Six Months To Go....

Take a long, hard look at that photograph above! Doesn't it just speak volumes? Do you find it as disturbing as I do that the American political system has become so dysfunctional in the last thirty years, that this fucking idiot - this half-witted, murderous little piece of shit - could somehow be elevated to the office of president of the United States? Does it not trouble you that so huge a segment of the American electorate has become so incredibly dumbed down in recent years, that after foolishly sending this homicidal little thug to the White House in 2000, they then compounded that mistake by repeating it four years later? Who the hell are these people? How can anyone be so ill-informed with regard to affairs of state, that they would actually squander their precious ballot by voting for this asshole? Hold your head high, Bubbah! Stand up and take a bow!

Well, fear not, children! I bear welcome news! We have only six months left - one-hundred and eighty-three days - of what only a fool would argue is the worst administration since the invention of dirt. That's the good news. Here's the bad news: It is going to be the longest six months we've ever lived through. There is still much additional harm that this stupid bastard and his sycophantic minions can do to your once-great nation. Make no mistake about it, when the Black Man enters the White House next year, he will spend ninety percent of his time in office (be it one term or two) dealing with the damage this disgusting administration has done. He will only be the first of many. As I said on this site almost two years ago, fifty years from today, the president of the United States - whom in all likelihood hasn't even been born yet - will still, on a daily basis, be dealing with the damage that was done by this utterly clueless, imbecilic man so many decades before. We will be generations recovering from the Age of Dubya.

If you ever find yourself traveling through Orange County, New York, sixty miles north of Manhattan, it is as easy as pie to spot me. I'm the guy in the navy blue van, a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette, with two huge, magnetic signs on either side of it. In red and blue letters on a white background it says, "IMPEACH BUSH". When I first commissioned those signs to be made almost three years ago, the reaction was mostly hostile. Today it is almost universally positive. Lately, however, people have taken to asking me why I even bother. After all, they say, he has only a few months left. How much sense would it possibly make to impeach him at this late date? My response is always that those signs will remain on my van until high noon, January 20, 2009 - if only to make a point. After that, what the hell, I'll donate the damned things to the Smithsonian Institution - or the George W. Bush Presidential Library! By the way, here's a little prediction: If that library ever even comes into being (and that is highly doubtful) it will be surrounded by a long ribbon of yellow tape that will say,
`
"CRIME SCENE * DO NOT CROSS"

What amazes me more than anything is the fact that the American people have yet to come face to face with the nasty reality behind the Bush administration. This was not by any means your average, run-of-the-mill, corrupt White House - ala Dick Nixon and friends or Warren G. Harding's "Ohio Gang". What we have been dealing with these last seven-and-a-half-years is a cabal of so-called neo-conservative "intellectuals" (former liberals, we're told) who were bent on taking full advantage of the void that was left in geopolitics with the fall of the Soviet Union almost twenty years ago. These people wanted to take over the world! That is not an overstated opinion. That is a documented fact. It was all spelled out over ten years ago - published for anyone to read - by the authors of the Project for a New American Century. Many within that organization (or supporters of it) - Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, et. al. - would later go on to be key singers and dancers in the Bush Follies. In 1998, in an open letter they called on President Bill Clinton to ignore all existing international law and invade the sovereign nation of Iraq. Three years later, the very same authors of that letter were conducting America's foreign policy. It was only a matter of time before they struck. All they needed was an excuse. That excuse came - gift wrapped - on a clear, late summer's morning in September of 2001.
`
How were these kooks, criminals and fools able to gain control of an American administration, you may well ask? Let's rewind the tape to June of 2000. It was at that time that Bush 41 asked his former Secretary of Defence, Richard B. Cheney, to find a suitable running mate for his idiotic kid. Certainly, Junior couldn't be counted on to make an intelligent choice all by himself. After what I'm sure was a long and exhaustive search (Wink! Wink!) the Dickster slithered back into Camp Bush and informed Poppy and Dubya that he had found the perfect, the ideal running mate: DICK CHENEY! Here's how mind-bendingly stupid your current president is: He thought that that was a dandy idea! Just dandy!

Eight years on, the damage that has been done to this country and the world, largely at Cheney's instigation, is incalculable. In their attempt to seize the second largest oil reserves on the planet (which was the only motivation for the invasion - let's stop kidding ourselves) they have created a foreign policy catastrophe that will literally take generations to remedy. When our war criminal president is finally brought to trial (and it will happen - take it to the bank) his defence is probably going to be that he was never really in charge, that it was the Vice-President who was running the show and that he was merely a puppet/figurehead. When George goes on trial, Dick will make the perfect scapegoat because by that time he'll be long dead. A man with his history of serious heart problems does not live very long. Maybe Cheney really has been calling the shots for all these years. But it can never be denied that the First Fool was a willing, eager participant in the crimes that have been committed against humanity by this tidal wave of corruption and incompetence.

Here's another prediction for you:
Six months from today, when President Barack Obama (Oh, please, Lord!) is inaugurated under the dome of the U.S. Capital as the 44th President of the United States, George W. Bush will be nowhere to be found. It's a sure bet that the hideous little bastard is gonna get out of town while the getting is good. He won't be there to receive the ultimate humiliation after Barack takes the oath of office and the crowd erupts into a devastating ovation (an ovation that will probably last for a half an hour or more) that will signify a national sigh of relief at being done with and rid of the most laughably corrupt chief-executive in American history. Come January 20, 2009, the dogs of justice will be hot on the trail of Bush and all of his flunky, homicidal "yes" men and women. Come January 20, 2009, it will be obvious to all thinking people that Bush needs to be sent to federal prison for the rest of his life. No. As jaw droppingly arrogant as this president has proven to be, he won't dare show his face on Inauguration Day. Come January 20, 2009, the disgusting little twit will be in the process of skipping the country. Count on it.

There's every reason to be anxious about the next six months. The general consensus of opinion is that we should not be consumed by worry; they've done all the damage they can possibly do and that they'll soon be gone. Here's why we need to worry. The only way Bush will be able to avoid receiving his due justice will be if John McCain is elected in November. The power of incumbency is limitless and of this you may be absolutely certain: this criminal administration is going to resort to any means necessary to see that Obama is defeated. Don't even think for a moment that they're not above allowing some "incident" to transpire that gets a few thousand people killed. All the polls suggest that some unforeseen military adventure such as a war with Iran (a war that these jackasses are just itching to fight) will benefit only McCain. For reasons I have never been able to figure out, Americans believe that liberal Democrats lack the innate ability to wage a successful military campaign. Apparently a lot of these same people are under the impression that Franklin D. Roosevelt was a right wing Republican. They would feel more comfortable with a veteran like Senator McCain steering the ship of state should events overseas get a little testy - even though he spent the bulk of the Vietnam war as a guest of Ho Chi Minh in a North Vietnamese prison. For the record: FDR had no military experience. None.

Here's another thing that must be taken into consideration: another domestic attack on the same level of 9/11. If intelligence is now mounting that such an attack is imminent, don't think for a minute that the Bush Mob won't be ignoring it - just as they ignored the warning, "BIN LADEN DETERMINED TO STRIKE IN THE U.S." in the months leading up to September 11, 2001. If we're attacked between now and Election Day, John McCain wins . It's as simple and as sad as that. Whatever may or may not happen between now and November 4, these people will continue to promote a sweltering climate of fear. As our beloved Molly Ivins once declared, "Keep your eye on the shell with the pea under it."

So there you have it folks! The next six months will seem to many like a century. As far as yours truly in concerned, January 20, 2009 can't come soon enough. And remember the mantra they kept repeating when an ideologically perverted Supreme Court allowed them to seize control of our government seven and-a-half years ago today? "The grownups are now in charge". Well, a lot of these so-called "grownups" will soon be headed to the slammer. I sincerely believe that George W. Bush will be among them. But don't think that he is just going to go away. His destructive legacy will loom large for the rest of our lives.

Speaking of George Bush. Where I live a rumor has erupted that he and Condoleeza Rice are having an affair and that George and Laura are on the verge of a divorce. The source is the National Examiner, translated into Spanish and then spread throughout our local tv news, radio programs and a few small newspapers. I was just wondering if in the U.S.A. anyone else has heard this and how accurate you feel that juicy bit of scandalous information is? Now, I am a little behind on my homework so if you will excuse me, I need to go read the entire Karl Rove post from last week and the political analysis that follows. Then I have to do research on the information in the post that I donĀ“t understand a do a coherent, well-informed but concise response in the comments section....

Dear Fabianna,
That would be too good to be true. It would just add one more weird chapter to this hideously disfunctional administration!

Only a fool would believe that the Republicans would willingly give up the power they have so cravenly sought and illegally gained... to not just a Democrat, but a black Democrat.

These people are economic criminals, war criminals, and finally, social criminals. They have not merely stood by while world economic conditions changed; they have enacted legislation that had no other possible consequence than the evisceration of America's manufacturing base and middle class. This was their goal, people.

The entire Afghan/Iraq scenario of the past seven years has been a three-fer for them, the perfect execution of The Plan: their corporate vampire patrons have taken inconceivable amounts of wealth from the middle and lower classes; these middle classes are now completely destabilised and unable to condense into a coherent and powerful bloc of social and economic opinion; a perpetual war has cowed the sheeple into willingly giving up Constitutionally-enshrined rights for a vaguely-defined 'security'. The only thing you have secured is their malignant control over your life.

I am not an American, and thus cannot involve myself other than indirectly, but I can shout from the rooftops: VOTING IS NOT ENOUGH! You have been fucked over, America. It's time to get angry.

Clever, though I think someone is getting the orgasm, but it sure ain't the fuckee...

But to get serious for a moment, I firmly believe it was a minority who voted for the fucking, in both 00 and 04. I believe a full-on vote-by-vote count would have indicated Bush lost both elections.

As I said, they have invested too much (positioning puppet candidates, rigging voting machines, lobbying investments ad infinitum) to walk away now. In fact, the stakes are even higher now because if they can't keep a cork on the righteous anger of an informed American populace, they will lose it all.

Everything in the next four months will be designed to sow confusion and uncertainty in the progressive movement, and soothe the ruffled feathers of the conservative voters, a gentle pat on their stupid stupid heads.

Of course, another false-flag "terror event" is a wild card, so don't rule that out.

Hi Tom,

As one of your long time readers, in fact corresponding with you before you began The Rant, I feel the need to weigh in on a couple of points. I have to respectfully quibble and disagree that Bush and Co was elected; I have never been able to accept that as a fact. The first term he was appointed by those great guys and gals on the Supreme Court, with help from Ms Harrison (was that her name -how soon we forget?) in Florida who stopped the ballot recount. And the second term was "won" because of voting irregularities in Ohio and other places that we probably don't even know about yet.

Yes, I look forward to the day he is out of office, but I will be holding my breath until his sorry ass is actually OUT of the White House and he is on his way some where - anywhere - where he can do no more damage to this country. As I have said before, it would not surprise me if he does not pull some last minute act of terror that will allow him to suspend the normal functioning of government, institute martial law and continue his little power trip as Supreme Dictator.

If by any chance we get lucky and he does leave, I will be willing to bet money that he will take his ass directly from Washington to his estate in Paraquay where he hopes he will be able to live out the rest of his miserable life without being held accountable for his crimes against the US and humanity.

Truly, as you always say, we can only pray for peace - and healing.

I really think you underestimate how deep the rabbit hole goes. The sweetheart oil pumping deal that Chaney the Greedy made a grab for was just the icing on the cake. As it turns out that was a major mistake. I will bet you a dollar right now that at this time in 2012, we will still have a quick strike force on multiple bases in Iraq operating under the radar of the American people, out of sight out of mine. Obama will trade control of Iraqi oil to the Iraqi for permanent bases. The Iraqi will not even care; American bases are just good business. Look at the way states whine when we try to close one here. Al Qaeda will not be able to terrorize the Iraqi the way they do the Saudi Royals. We invaded Iraq to move our military out of Saudi Arabia and keep control of the flow of oil. If you do not play free market capitalism our way, we will shut down your oil supply. If you try and collect on our debt we will shut down your oil supply down. If Obama plays his hand smart, he can get Iran to help fight Afghanistan and Pakistan. Israel has just about outlived its usefulness; we do not need them to keep everything hot. Al Qaeda is the gift that keeps on giving. If McCain wins he can do the same thing and be a real war hero instead of a POW. We are going underground and the rabbit hole is deep. Is it peace or is it Memorex?

Hi Tom,
As usual a great article so thanks again.
I got a delightful screensaver called "Backwards Bush", a free download,(search and ye shall find). It's a reverse clock which counts backward to the moment we will (hopefully) be free of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and the rest of the criminals in their gang. Right now it says 181 days, 14 hours, and about 42 minutes and some seconds... and with every word I write the time gets shorter. It kind of cheers a person up to watch it.
I'd also like to put a plug in for an anti-McCain site I think you and your readers might want to investigate: http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/index.htm . I highly recommend it, especially this testimony by Earl Pearson Hopper, Jr., Lt. Colonel, U.S. Air Force (ret.), a 30-year vet of Korea and Vietnam. http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/cin_hopper_video.htm

thanks
Gib (Saltwater)

Yes, I took some time to respond, I was watching how the game began in this week's politics.

I just watched an Al Franken Video which I forwarded to friends to view, then, upon going back to re-watch it myself, I see that, "This video is no longer available." Why?

I am fortunate enough to see two broadcast stations out of Minneapolis, MN (NBC and CBS affiliates). The ad Al had posted was a guy in a bowling alley becoming more and more disheartened with the fact that Senator Norm Coleman hadn't done or HAD done TO Minnesota/ns instead of representing it/them.

Well, well, the other side, Norm's! had a "thinking" PR guy and they took the joke in Al's ad (He brought hockey back to Minnesota???) and began to sell it as the best thing ever! The Minnesota Wild! They exist because of Norm Coleman!

Kill Al's ad, the humor is now a selling point to the beer swilling population who cannot get HNIC but can watch "The WILD things."

Have you noticed the shift in the framing of this election? It began about THE WARS and is now, IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!

We needn't worry that if the Republicans cannot keep a cork on the righteous anger of an *informed American populace*, they will lose it all.

The new FRAME puts every IDIOT in the ballot box. And what is their *new* selling point? Not discussing the war, but by discussing the economy (created by unmentionable wars) that turned $38/barrel oil into $125/barrel oil.

That oil takes money out of their pocket every time at the gas station, when they pay the fuel oil bill, food, etc, etc. AND THEY SEE IT LEAVE THEIR HANDS/BANKS, ETC.

What is it that IDIOTS do not like to do? SHARE!

The problem with the economy isn't the war, it's the Tax and spend Democrats! You cannot vote against your own pocket book! We will keep the tax breaks given by President Bush (by the way, here's a tax stimulus check to keep you glazed-over until after you have voted to keep YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET [chuckle] Vote Republican and keep your hard earned money, don't give it to government [shiver] social programs. ONLY YOU KNOW HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY!!

Thus, we have McCain campaigning on his (?) economic recovery plan. Selfish IDIOTS, seem to have been birthed in great numbers in the post-war "Baby-Boom." They earned it (yeah, like Bush was elected twice-->*SNORT*) and they believe they deserve to keep ALL of it.

That will be all it takes to overwhelm the number of the informed American populace at the ballot box.

And between going to war with Iran, maintaining contracts with Blackwater, Halliburton, KBR and trying to re-establish the Oil companies that lost out to Iraq's Oil Naturalization program (Imagine, a country actually OWNING it's mineral resources and financially benefiting from them--->WAIT! Do that only if you think Hugo Chavez is correct in doing the same thing! Taking oil from BP, Shell, ExxonMobile and others to benefit Venezualans AND giving crude oil, by the barrel to his friends. What?-->assinine, don't they understand capitalism?)-->QUICK, label them Communist and start denouncing them!

A few red herrings and see how the idiots jump into the fire? They aren't even worthy of the "frog in hot water analogy." They are so depleted of compassion for their fellow Americans, and world citizens, that they just jump into the flames if they think they can find pocket change at the bottom of the fire pit, after all, it is their money.

I will do my best to try not to lose hope to the stupidity of the nation I call home, but I am not going to hold my breath for the "Six Months To Go. . . ." I'll be emailing like crazy about what paying your taxes gets you (FDA regulation of food-stuffs and drugs, roads, schools, etc.).

And, if an overwhelming hoard of IDIOTS votes in McCain?

We will spend the next FOUR years listening to the madding crowds bray at the destruction wrought upon the country's infrastructure and safety.

Uncle Screwtape would be PROUD that Wormwood had become so learned as to "convert" so many, "anti-war, thinking Americans" so quickly.

I'm taking this blog out of my favorites column because you wouldn't even take a minute to help me figure out how to support a Democratic candidate in the most conservative county in the US.

It would have taken you, what---3 minutes---to answer my question.

Thanks for nothing. You're a lot of talk, and no action!

bremomo,
Forgive me. I get so many messages, I am not able responf to them all. All I can tell you is to contact your local Democratic Committee and ask them hoe you can help out. They're always looking for volunteers. You can also make a point of writing a letter (or several of them) to your local paper. Contact radio talk shows - local or otherwise. It's easier than you think to get through (The secret is speed dialing) Whenever I call C-SPAN, I usually get through. I hope that helps you. If you have any other questions, e-mail me:

Dear Tom:
I was reading your post and thinking about Molly Ivins. God rest her, I miss her. Thanks for taking up the gauntlet.
You're right about the turning of the tide in the Vietnam "conflict" (did they ever call it a war?) The draft of 1969 hit the sons of the elite where it hurt. The previous year was probably one of the worst in our history and I for one believe that Daddy Bush had his CIA claw in the assassinations that year (and the one in '63.) It was a really bad one for me, too. My fiancee enlisted, knowing that he would be drafted, but he hated the war and military life and kept going AWOL that summer. Finally, on his last trip home, he shot himself rather than go off to Vietnam. You can say that he was unstable, but the country was in turmoil, just as it is now. Keep those hands together, when they're not typing! Peace.
I don't know how anyone could possibly vote for McCain this November, but neither did I see how anyone could vote for GWB.
