The GOP's Little Image Problem

In case you've missed it, the Grand Old Party has been having a bit of a PR problem of late. Maybe I can help them overcome their latest difficulty but (Heh! Heh!) I kind of doubt it. In an article that was posted just this morning on AlterNet (see link below) Francis Schaeffer, a former Religious Right activist who has since come home to Jesus, wrote as follows:

"THE SCORCHED EARTH POLICY: Dick Army and company have been driven mad by their reversal, not just of political fortunes but of seeing that they've wasted their lives. They now know they were wrong: about the country, the free market, war for fun and profit, and what the American people really want. They made their best case and were rejected by the American people -- and by history. Bush was their man and he turned out to be a fool. So now all the the Republican gurus have left is what the defeated Germans of World War Two had: a scorched earth policy. If they can't win then everyone must go down. Obama must fail! The country must fail!"

This is what I've been dreading since last year's election. The loony Right Wing has become even more unglued than their weird history has taught us to expect. They realize that their stupid and twisted ideology has been rendered hopelessly bankrupt by the American people. Then again, their causes always end up in history's trash bin.

From "The Rant", August 9, 2006:

"Conservative causes may look good when viewed through a contemporary prism; but they always - without exception - look foolish, even totalitarian, when viewed through the objective lens of 20/20 historical hindsight. If you don't believe me, look up every conservative cause in American history - starting with slavery! No doubt about it: America is in dire need of a long overdue history lesson, not to mention a course or two in civics."

Now that their cover has been eternally blown, they have no other choice but to encourage "the base" (or what's left of it) into a violent insurrection. That is what has been happening lately at these Town Hall Meetings. Today these people are disrupting Democracy through means of fear and intimidation. Tomorrow it will be by use of firearms. Count on it.

This could very easily be called the Glenn Beck Revolution. The former shock jock-turned FOX News commentator has spent the last several weeks stirring up his clueless masses into hissy fits of rage and paranoia. Beck likes to think of himself as the modern day equivalent of Howard Beale, the character from the classic 1976 film, Network. As I wrote on this site back in June, it's an apt comparison. He's mad as hell.

It really is interesting when you think about it. A person with no journalistic experience whatsoever could hope to find success as a journalist only on FOX Noise. If Howard Stern tomorrow decided that he wanted to change careers and start over as a Progressive commentator on MSNBC, do you really think for one minute that most Liberals would be stupid enough to tune in? If Keith Olbermann tonight called upon the masses to disrupt all public events hosted by Eric Cantor, few if any Liberals, I'm am certain, would follow his lead in blind obedience. Then just what is it with these silly wing-nuts?

By the way, this is slightly off-topic but I have a prediction to make: Eric Cantor will be their nominee in 2012. While he may be utterly lacking in substance, he looks really good on television - the perfect GOP candidate. Here is what their selling point is going to be three years from now:

We made history four years ago by sending a black guy to the Oval Office. Let's do it again by sending a Jew!

Mark my words, boys and girls....

It has always amused and amazed me how easily these people fall victim to obvious propaganda. That is why we are the laughingstock of the entire planet, I suppose. Remember it was only a few short years ago that a large segment of the electorate were hypnotized into believing that sending a corrupt, hideous, half-witted little frat boy like George W. Bush to the White House was a really neat idea.

Beck and his co-conspirators now have a huge segment of Americans believing that if President Obama's plan for health care reform is successful, the elderly will be euthanized. What the hell is the matter with them? The only explanation I can fathom is that they just refuse to believe that what has worked beautifully for over sixty years in merrie old England can be made to work here. They don't know what is good for America. They never have. They never will.

The scorched earth policy that Schaeffer refers to boils down to this one essential and inarguable fact: Some of them at least have bothered to learn American history. They understand all-too-
well the ramifications of Franklin D. Roosevelt's victory in 1932 and the effect it had on their political antecedents. So successful was FDR's New Deal at repairing America's social and economic infrastructure after twelve years of Right Wing plunder, the Republicans would not control the executive branch of our government for twenty years. And other than one brief period, they would not control the House of Representatives for a full sixty-two years. They are absolutely determined that history does not repeat itself.

In order for the Republican party to survive politically, Barack Obama - and, thus, you and I - must fail. This very week, when it appeared that the economy might be on the mend, they were out on the talk show circuit, chanting the mantra. "Oh, no!", they bloviated. "the surge in the economy is not because of the president's policies - but in spite of them." Were we to believe the likes of John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, President Obama is the Chauncey Gardiner of American politics.

The days when this country was exclusively run by male White Anglo Saxon Protestants are gone forever - and the kooks and fools on the fringes of American politics refuse to accept this unalterable new reality as fact.

Coming soon to a theater near you - a tale so chilling it will make your blood curdle! A story so horror-laden, few would have dared imagine it only a year ago! Do not see this picture alone - Be sure to bring a friend! DON'T MISS....

ATTACK OF THE NEGROES!!!!

Be afraid, they're telling us. Be very afraid! The white man is no longer in charge. "Those people" are taking over our beloved country. The President of United States (these United States, goddammit!) isn't even an American citizen - he's a goddamned A-rab from Africa! He wants to kill grandma and grandpa! He's plannin' on sendin' our kids to reeducation camps! He's nothin' but a goddamned, latte-swirlin', french fry-eatin', Barbara Streisand-lovin' surrender monkey! Oh, Mammy! Hand me mah smellin' salts 'fore Ah faint!

Those
are the depths to which political dialogue in this country has sunk in the last twenty-eight years, six months, two weeks and two days (Do the math). Long gone are days of reasoned discourse for most of these assholes. They are past the point where they could debate the issues on the basis of their ideas - because their ideas are reprehensible. To paraphrase FDR, the only thing they have to offer is fear itself. Pump the people up with hate. That is their final and only strategy.

Forgive me for pointing out this nasty little tidbit of historical fact, but this is the very same kind of inflammatory rhetoric that was polluting the American political landscape on the eves of April 14, 1865 and November 22, 1963. Need I go into detail? I didn't think so. Hardly a day goes by where I don't pray out loud, "Dear Lord, keep him safe."

That being said, here's a friendly little reminder for Glenn Beck and the hate mongers on the Far Right who are doing so much damage to the body politic: if our president is ever harmed in any serious way, you jackasses will have blood dripping from your idiotic hands. Were something that horrible ever to happen, there would be hell to pay. If I were you folks, I'd start working overtime to ensure that it does not happen. Just a thought.

On that cheerful note....

Hi Tom, an excellent and provocative article as usual (and we your faithful readers would expect no less from you).

You said: "Today these people are disrupting Democracy through means of fear and intimidation. Tomorrow it will be by use of firearms. Count on it."

I agree completely and I will tell you it scares the shit out of me. In all of my 67 years I have never seen the political scene as toxic, unreasonable and hate driven as it is today. Thinking back to the late 50s and early 60s when integration was the big issue, I don't think that even then political parties were so far apart and completely out of control as they are today.

Blood will be shed and the most upsetting thing is that the Becks, Limbaughs, McConnells, Boehners and their ilk will never, never admit that it was their angry, hate driven, irresponsible rhetoric that caused it.

While I believe in freedom of speech, we must manage to put some sort of damper on the inflammatory hatred coming from these people.

And it would almost be funny if it was not so sad to see people foaming at the mouth against a government health plan and yelling to "keep your god damned hands off of my Medicare!"

W.D. Shirley said:

"Would that we could take the bullets away first, before the shot was fired from the grassy knoll.

"Maybe we can, maybe we can outlaw bullets without screwing with the Constitutional rights. They can have lead shot and black powder, just like the Revolutionary soldiers, but no automatic weapons. We have a Constitutional right to bear arms, but only those arms which existed in 1776. That would satisfy the Bill of Rights AND our need to disarm crazy bigoted assholes."

SERIOUSLY, Shirley, how much do you get paid to try to convince the public the 2nd Amendment applies only to 18th century weaponry?

Do you just make up the words of the 2nd Amendment as you go along?

Listen, honey, read your history. The 2nd Amendment is primarily for We the People to protect ourselves from the government.

Whatever weaponry the "government" has, We the People can have.

But, oh yes, of course, we can't, right? Becuz why? Becuz the gov says so and stupid sheeple bought into this fearmongering crap you're spreading around.

Fearmongering used to keep the Left and the Right segregated is the government's only chance of surviving what seems to be coming down the pike already.

Seriously.

The government does not "GRANT" me the right to bear arms, on my person, in my car, hidden or in plain view. That's my inalienable right (to protect myself.)

The government's job was to PROTECT that right from infringement. Instead, the gov usurped it.

Wonder why we have the highest incarceration rate in the world? And the highest number of prisoners?

Wonder why the gov now wants to disarm the rest of us?

We're all gonna be safer off if Johnny Rebel and City Chick BOTH are armed, no matter what this genocidal government tries to tell us.

I don't like the insurance companies creating these Town Hall Shout Downs (just to keep Single Payer off the table)...

But I also don't like fear mongering from the Left either.

Even though you LOVE to through the word around left and right...

What do you really know about Negros?

Besides what you watched on the Cosby Show?

Because from what I’m seeing...

There weren’t that many Negros in your class in 1977....

So you really didn’t go to school with that many, if any, Black people...

You don’t seem to have dated any Negros (correct me if I’m wrong)

But yet, You...

As a sheltered, privileged, White Boy...who doesn’t see to have any long-term Black friends, is going around throwing the word “Nergro” around left and right and is lecturing the rest of us about this whole “Negro” population situation.

Seems kind of self-righteous and hypocritical, huh?

I went for coffee (a unique Canadian lifestyle do-hickey-->go for coffee for hours to talk life, politics, etc. I personally like the idea of a pub for hours and hours, however, you cannot do it at 9:00am) and we discussed the session of Texas and the fracturing of The United States of America; I wasn't the one who brought up the idea, a friend from Montreal did.

It is seeming more and more like all the craziness of Rick Perry and the South are still set on pre-1865 notions of what they can take and how they need to participate in a United States. This friend, Mike, was saying he thinks that all the Glenn Becks, Limbaughs, Ingrahms, David Frums, private border patrols, private armies (Blackwater-XE) and the like are setting the scene for a fracturing of the union similar to the dissolving of the USSR into separate countries from previous states (i.e. Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, etc.).

The idea would have seemed totally "round the twist" during the '90s; now? The idea and the possibility is all too real.

I was referring to Georgia of the former USSR. Understandable the thinking it was Georgia, USA.

I have a strong belief that most of the states below the Mason Dixon Line are still fighting the war and since they are not getting their way, their fearless, and ignorant boor, leader, Rush Limbaugh will lead the lemmings out of the Union. When they leave? Watch them bitch about the lack of Federal programs.

Rick Perry and his lot will learn quickly from the mess Canada has with the Quebec Secessionists (and now Harper's minions in Alberta).

Let's see how the hate/Nazi/fascism rhetoric plays out. I don't have favorable expectations.

This is a great article, Tom. I'd been concerned about the shape the backlash against Obama would take since before last November's election. The putrid crap has surfaced since the campaign, so now it must be dealt with. It's a truly frightening time. It would have been a good idea to have "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" as required reading in public schools--particularly focusing on the parts about the Brown Shirts disrupting meetings. It so totally CAN happen here!

I couldn't agree more with your assessment. The level of hatred has risen to scary heights and it won't take much to set this combustable situation off.

I am troubled with the pot stirrers. I doubt they really believe themselves as much as they are after dollars. Rush, Glen and the rest of the right wing misinformers are not interested in outcomes, just their ratings and how much money they can rake in.

Their irresponsibility only make a mockery of the First Amendment. Sadly it covers irrational speech with the hope that truth will ultimately prevail. And that may still be true but the Framers didn't, I think, anticipate the lightening instant media and its ability to short circuit dialogue.

Jan, I have every right to say anything I want towards public officials if I don't agree with them. The same goes for the protesters.
I wasn't around during the civil rights movement in the 60's and the 70's when anger (rightfully so) was used in protest. If I were present back then, no way would I call them toxic or something worse.
Beck, Rush, Savage etc...have zero influence towards me or any conservative I know....none. We might be on the same page on most issues but I live my own life.
Prez O-Shit doesn't deserve my vote or an opportunity to carry on with his socialist agenda. Us conservatives will countinue to speak our mind, respect fellow citizens and hope this mad man along with the rest of his fellow extremists disappear.

Yes, dear young Harry, you CAN say anything you want to elected officials. You know why? Cause the Democrats are in office. Republicans don't allow that crap. Just ask Laura Berg.

It wasn't that long ago that a Republican President ordered the military to open fire on protesters. Unarmed American protesters, on American soil, fired upon by American soldiers. As ordered by a Republican President.

Why is it that every time somebody stands up and says “I don’t think so” to Obama, that it is racially motivated? Could it be that it is just because his plan is stupid. His logic presented during a recent BS session was beautiful. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XTi-WdOu2s&feature=player_embedded. He basically makes the case against his own idea. As much as I am afraid I am hopeful. They are unhinged just enough to relegate them to the dustbin for a long while. If we do it right it could be the passing of an era of stupidity. The stakes are very high but we could be around the corner from a saner society.

Hi Harry,

Thanks for the comment.

I just have one question; "Is that all you got Harry?"

Nothing intelligent or thoughtful?

Oh Right, you're the rugged individualist and being intelligent or thoughtful and a sign of weakness among "conservatives". (I put "conservative" in quotation marks because really, what exactly are you conserving besides a fear based political climate? Or perhaps the bank accounts of your rich friends who help you legitimize your false outrage by paying you to disrupt townhall meetings on health care?)

At least we liberals are trying to communicate. But then, we're the winners here.

What is your comment calculated to do?

There is no pretty way to say this Harry, since I've been abused seriously by your kind in the country of my birth for no good reason at all but fear and hate. I won't be pulling any punches here.

Lets be clear here Harry, conservatives are SORE LOSERS!

Conservatives are hateful in triumph (if you call being rode like a herd animal to power by George W Bush triumph) and hateful in defeat. Come to think of it, the entire conservative world view is all about fear and hate.

Clearly that is the defining characteristic that separates us. I choose the folly of living my life in love and compassion because I'd rather live in a world like that, and you choose the folly of living your life in a spy thriller in fear of the liberal takeover of the media and our government. I say things like "our" government and you say things like "My" government.

You say "I", "me" and "mine" while I say "we", "us" and "ours". You say my neighborhood, I say our neighborhood. And even though we are so different, I still believe that we have more common ground than battle ground and am willing to find a way to move forward that satisfies both our sensibilities.

Meanwhile you shout to drown out the attempt at communicating.

This is what is happening.

Liberals are either winning this fight, or the few, wealthy vocal minorities (Health Insurance Industry, again riding you conservatives like herd animals) are astroturfing their way to American fascism. But of course, we'll call it "Americanism". For you see now attending the townhall meetings the proto brownshirts (that wish they could beat my bisexual ass to death). Just remember, in dehumanizing your opponent, you become the evil which you profess to abhor. You and your family will be completely at the mercy of your flawed and horrifying world view. A world view which requires there be losers and winners rather than members of a community working together toward a society which allows each and every one of us to be who we wish to be. Something I'm sure you will think is just hilarious. But then your mascot might be Joe "beat the livin' tar out of Pelosi" the plumber. Am I right? Just so you know, advocating violence against your opponent isn't exactly the hallmark of responsible civilized citizenry. Just so you know.

At 4:43 PM, Blogger badweather said...

Conservatives are showing their true colors now at the townhalls across America. Seventy five percent of America is watching you do this. Conservatives will not regain power anytime in the next three decades. But I promise, liberals are far nicer to deal with than conservatives. If you don't like nice, compassionate and fair, go back to Nazi Germany.

Besides, haven't you learned your lesson from George Bush? Did any of your agenda get accomplished under his watch? Don't you feel just as ripped off by the Republicans as we do? With all the moralizing that goes on in right wing camps don't you have to have one hell of a set of blinders on to avoid total ideological meltdown in the face of your own people like Larry Craig and Mark Sanford revealing that they are, after all, mere humans complete with repressed sexual appetites?

Some one said the other day that I was a commie pinko something or other... I replied; "I'm afraid my friend that the cold war is over and you've been propagandized. But hey! That's the beauty of being American. I'm entitled to my opinion and you're entitled to theirs."

I say it again Harry, that's the beautiful thing about America I'm entitled to my opinion and you're entitled to theirs. Until you organize your brownshirts into goon squads in the streets of America to beat it out of my bisexual head I will continue to live as if America is a free country because I was taught about the concept as a child and I'll be damned if I live any other way. That's what they mean when they say the tree of liberty needs occasional refreshing. That's my blood they're talking about Harry, not yours. That's right Harry, my commie pinko faggot blood that your ilk has spilled from time to time. How you twist the concept of proto brownshirt health care goon squad into an act of patriotism in your mind is perhaps beyond most liberals. Not me Harry, I understand. You fear our freedoms. Which makes you repressed.

Fear of freedom Harry. That's what it is all about. The rich fear our freedom and you are their lackey in the street. They call it Mobocracy. You are attempting to prove them right. Truth be told, you right wing loonies are afraid of your own shadows. Let me clue you in here Harry, it is far more courageous for a person to admit that they are bisexual than it is to be grumpy, racist, white and male in America. The natives from whom we (yes you and I) stole this land call us two spirited beings and respect us and even revere us for our balanced views regarding sexuality, gender roles, and other important matters such as war. By the way, I wouldn't even say we stole it exactly, if we would collectively stop the continued abusive behavior that really amounts to the continued theft of all we hold sacred day in and day out by the very same people.

I believe being two spirited helps me see both sides of an issue and that makes me a natural mediator in discussions. I'm always trying to hold the group together. Community is very important to me. It is important to me that we have the freedom you and I to disagree. But we must agree to disagree, agreeably. Which hopefully leaves the way open to allow you and I to work together sand bagging when the levee breaks having had all our battle ground washed away by a common foe.

So ask yourself, who's taking the moral high ground here Harry? Paid health care thugs for insurance company buggery? Or the 75% of America that voted for Obama and health care reform?

How's it hanging Harry,

I think you and I both know who the really creative one is here. And I don't really need to waste any more of my valuable time but I will say this: You're not here in the name of truth, or patriotism and you're not interested in working together with your community. Yours is a reductionist view with a slightly sociopathic bent. What system of beliefs is it that brings you to the conclusion that the weakest and the least of us don't matter?

What part of "I prefer to live my life in joy rather than fear" don't you understand? Besides, regardless of the numbers, Obama won a landslide victory and has more of a mandate than any president since FDR. Obama actually has political capital. Conservatism in general took a huge hit, the GOP is in virtual shambles and to date has not accomplished one single item on the radical evangelical right wings agenda. What has been accomplished is the wholesale looting of every scrap of wealth Americans hands have created in the last forty years. Mostly under the watch of George Bush and which now continues virtually unabated under the Obama Administration. It is as if every one in Washington is being held at gunpoint forced to make decisions that benefit only the wealthy and virtually enslave everyone else. Your mindless right wing townhall bully antics only serve the rich to bring our country closer to fascism.

As far as getting up off my ass, I've been a campaigner in the trenches of the real grass roots of this country pretty much since 1985 working for Illinois public action, Progressive Action for the Common Good (where I'm a founding member), I've worked for ACORN, volunteered for countless political campaigns... You'll find it difficult to keep up with me I assure you Harry. I do 30 miles per day on my bicycle and have ridden my bicycle across whole states. I can jump your bullshit in a single bound and be off through the poetry of my life. Your just a dingle berry... and gone with the slight popping sound you might expect from the empty right wing gas bag on it's last gasp.

Conservatism was dealt at the very least a 30 year death blow. Being small minded grumpy white and proud of it is falling out of favor Harry. I'm just sorry I haven't thanked you properly for the long food lines and high gas prices and the low opinion of my country held by the world thanks to your incredible stupidity in voting for George W Bush. You bear a huge amount of the responsibility for the terrible mess that we're in my friend. I'd be a little more apologetic if I were you. 'Cause even though you have this image of what you think of us or me, we know that isn't the reality. Your ideaology has become so unhinged from reality that you allow yourself to relegate 15% of Americans to silence and oppression because you're too small minded to see that cooperative behavior which is a win win situation is better than a win lose situation which you were born and bred for like an animal. Which, by the way, you're acting like. In spanish I would say Quiete la hosica Harry. Shut your horses mouth to be exact. Those are fighting words btw in some places in this country. I trust that you and your small minded friends have their plans for the "takeover" and all these guns and ammo squirreled away you can get your hands on. I'm just looking at this jar of quarters thinking they'd make great arrow heads. twenty years from now that's how we'll probably be living largely because we didn't have Al Gore for president for the last eight years. We squandered the last chance for Americans to keep the cushy lifestyle that we've lived for so long. We squandered the wealth of unborn generations. I always have to remind myself that conservatives have children and they must care about them and so they must simply know no other way to proceed. Me, I know that I've done everything I can do and will continue to do it. I eat whole unprocessed foods. I use a bicycle for serious transportation. If Buckminster Fuller is right and gasoline should be a million dollars a gallon owing to its scarcity and rate of recovery spread out across a fair span of time would ration it down to the point that we would probably use it in making perfumes and inhaling it's vapors for its inebriating effects. It would be nearly the most expensive item on earth. The value of having not used a resource actually becomes more valuable projected out into the future. So, since technology and other factors combine to reduce the need for large amounts of fossil fuels, those fossil fuels would naturally become more and more expensive as we leveraged more and more of the real true cost of using petroleum back to the user. It's what we call true cost. I believe that the true cost of using oil will end up pretty much around a million dollars per gallon by the turn of the century after factoring all the costs of mitigation and losses such as the 550 billion dollar loss that is predicted by climate scientists for the Iowa / Illinois region where I live due to crop loss.

I know, I know, blah blah (insert current right wing blah blah here) blah... But try and get your mind around this Harry; we humans have released the fossilized remains of plants and animals called oil, the carbon of which took hundreds and hundreds of thousands of years to produce volcanically and millions and millions of years to scrub out of the atmosphere by the oceans and the forest and we released roughly half of what we started with in a mere hundred years. That's a pretty big bump to a fairly delicate web of life that exists here on earth and I wouldn't be surprised if it begins to effect the climate in precisely this way; My prediction is that we will begin very quickly to see the rate of change that life is used to begin to exceed life's ability to adapt to the changes. We humans, being the very adepts of change on earth by having been forced out of niche after niche till we apparently mastered virtually every possible niche on earth and became what we are today, have posed for ourselves the ultimate survival test. The winners will be the ones who understand how to function in a democracy which you clearly know nothing about.

Your right wing lunitic strategy could never possibly dream of guaranteeing us a small chance of retaining even a tiny degree of civilization and cohesion in society over the next few decades. A community is built upon cooperation not hate. And cooperation is best served in an atmosphere of love and support not fear and paranoia perpetrated by the small mined bullies of the current kings of America, the health care insurance industry gods. With the hate filled tactics you are currently employing you will certainly meet an appropriately hate filled demise without any doubt on my part. That goes for you, your "movement", That not through bullying or screaming or even killing but through working together and developing ways to solve our problems in a way that preserves the ideas that conservatives have that are good and the ideas that liberals have that are good. I'm pretty sure I feel that way because I'm just fair minded but it could very well be that I feel that way because being the winner here, I can afford to be extremely magnanimous.

So, onward, enough time spent on the small minded distractions that your tiny buzzings have become Harry. Have a wonderfully post apocalyptic adventure of your own making my brother. Just one small bit of advice before I go. I'd learn something that makes you valuable to your community like making soap, or growing produce, or just being all around helpful to your fellow citizens if I were you. Pretty much it's going to get real tuff around here and if you loonies think any of us are going to sit around and be bullied by the likes of you now or at any time in the near future you're sadly mistaken. I can't even find someone willing to admit that they voted for George W Bush. He's going down in history as the worst president in American history. In his defeat this November 2008 you and your ilk heard the political death knell of your rabid and racist ways. Now you can go back to your hidee holes and squeal like pigs all you like. I don't have to watch. No Harry, it is you and your bunch of rotten bootlicking corporate money humping right wing yahoos who are falling off your ill timed political wave straight into the dustbin of history soon to be forgotten as the new age of reason dawns upon us as we are forced to pick up the broken pieces of our dreams and lives and once again stitch them into a vibrant and diverse community of life. With or without you Harry. Your choice.

That's right Harry, have a great day and hibernate on this you grumpy old white racist right wing nut job of a nearly forgotten political arm of the now irrelevant GOP otherwise known as the "I hate America enough to sell it down the river to the highest bidder for sex money and power grumpy old white sexist, racist bastards club"; You're just like a bunch of right wing apes, all you can do now is hoot and holler and fling political dung.

So I'm asking you again Harry,

Is that all you got?

Dung?

btw you can read all of this including Harry's oh so intelligent remarks on my website at www.qcmississippimud.com If you have a stomach for it. The truth I mean.

WOW! Talk about a hate monger. I trust the Obama administration, and lunatic liberals such as Thorax, even less than I trusted the Bush administration. I don't suppose Thorax is productive member of the private sector?? You know, the people who pay to support the government, their programs, and academia.

What do Liberals carry in their wallet? The Race Card they can't debate without it. Because facts get in the way!! You are a freakin IDIOT to think that people opposing this overreaching agenda is racist. This tells me that you are unbelievably racist - because only someone that thinks that way would assume someone else was that way. There were African Americans, Hispanics, Whites, , Indians, Asians and American Indians, every race creed and color. A good percentage of the speekers were African American - but it is your sheer ignorance to assume it was racist at all. We are fighting for the freedoms that you so moronically want to give away.

Below is an e-mail I received this evening from a person from a person in Canada:

Here’s a very recent example of the terrible socialist Canadian Health care system….

My son-in-law David last night went to the Hospital with what was apparently a hernia problem. He was visited and sent this morning to a specialist Hernia Center (Shouldice Hospital).

Following this morning’s visit by the specialist he was told that it isn’t critical, and is scheduled for surgery August 25, in 17 days. Had it been severe they would have operated on him urgently.

Cost to him for these visits (Hospital visit, specialist, family doctor) and for operation is still zero.
