The Panic Sets In

"If you read the newspapers today, I, for one, am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country. And believe it or not, some in this town, have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans."

Eric Cantor

Damn! I nearly spit out my coffee when I read that one. At that exact same moment, the pot that I had brewed the coffee in called the kettle "black". Aren't these th
e most interesting of times? They are, you know. They really are!

Here is a question that I am hard-pressed to avoid:
Is there a bigger asshole slithering though the halls of congress than Eric Cantor? If there is I'd sure-as-hell would like to know about it. It has always amused me to watch him on the tube trying to defend the morally indefensible. He always has this weird look of cherubic contentment on his clueless face. It really is something to behold. To the credit of Mitch "The Plutocracy's Bitch" McConnell, he at least has the decency to look somewhat ill-at-ease when having to vomit forth their nonsensical talking points . Cantor, on the other hand, is right at home with their delightfully twisted agenda. Too weird!

Consider Eric Cantor's burden if you will. The despicable little freak wants us to swallow his definition of the people down on W
all Street who now hold up a mirror to the plutocracy's face. Eric defines them as a "mob". He actually made a very good point - although I am certain that it was accidental on his part. This IS the pitting of "Americans against Americans". It's the ninety nine percent against the one percent. Cantor and his people are calling this "class warfare". Guess what. It is class warfare! And they've been waging it against us since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution.

For the f
irst century it was a covert war. On January 20, 1981 (Guess what happened on that day? - photo left) it became completely and unabashedly overt. On 17 September 2011, the sleeping giant of the American Left was awakened from a long and troubled slumber. Cantor and his gang shouldn't even dream about putting an end to what is now happening. This revolution is unstoppable. The line it is drawn; the curse it is cast. The good folks whom at this very hour are occupying Wall Street are bearing witness for all the world to behold, what thirty years of deregulation - and the resulting economic plunder - have done to the working people of this once-great nation. The American people have had-it-up-to-here and they're taking long-overdue action. The old world is rapidly fading. Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand.

MEMO TO
CANTOR:

Yeah, you're absolutely correct, Eric. We are a mob. AND WE'RE FUCKING PISSED, BUSTER.

You can almost feel the panic reverberating from both sides of the aisle in congress this week. They're trying to convince themselves that this is a passing fluke, that we're not yet at the point of no return. If these people know a damned thing about history (and sometimes I wonder if these knuckleheads know anything) they must realize that - if this isn't the end of the right wing's thirty-year-long orgy - it is most definitely the beginning of the end. As the old song says:

It's time to wi
nd up the masquerade
Just make your mind up, the piper must be paid
The party's over
It's all ov
er, my friend

This is the beginning of a new era. We'll either take America back for the middle class - and the poor, so they may once again aspire to be a part of the middle class - or we'll shut it down if we have to. It's as stark and as simple as that. We can do it, too. "Strength in numbers", you know what I'm saying? There are a hell of a lot more of us than there are of them.

And thanks to the technology that was brought to us in part by the late Steve Jobs, the revolution will be televised.

AFTERTHOUGHT:

This past Saturday I was in Red Hook, NY visiting my friend Laura Pelosi. As we approached the entrance of a little place called "Taste Bud's Cafe", out of the loudspeaker came the angelic sound of a voice performing the most beautiful rendition of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" that I have ever heard in my life! Once inside, to our utter astonishment and delight, we were gently confronted by the artistry of Sandy Bailey. This might be the first time you have heard her name, but it won't be the last - trust me on this one. Here is a link to a site where you can listen to a few of her songs, and maybe purchase her new CD:

http://www.reverbnation.com/sandybailey

She wrote a tune called "If Only Dreams Were True". Dreams are still being made to come true, folks. Sandy Bailey is all the proof you need.

BREAKING NEWS, 10/14/11:

Tomorrow there will be a global show of solidarity for the brothers and sisters who occupy Wall Street.

Dear Lord, this is so beautiful! Here are a group of musicians and singers from all parts of the world, coming together as one, via the miracle of technology. The song they perform is Stand By Me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us-TVg40ExM&feature=player_embedded

Stand by the protesters all over the world. "No matter who you are. "No matter where you go." Stand by them. And while we're at it, let's all stand by each other. What t
he heck.

pray for peace

"Mobs"? Is it just me, or are these people just scared of some Marie Antoinette guillotine action going down in the near future? Hence the need to nip the "mobs" in the bud right now?

A great post and great comments. Cantor is the worst of the worst. I can't wait to see what his karma has in store for him. And meanwhile, Boner just sits weeping while Cantor is ready to stick the knife in his back.

Been thinking....we need to organize more boycotts where ever feasible of the goods and services of these evil corporations. The move your money thing is a good start but we all should avoid purchasing any food, goods or services from any place other than local small businesses. Get your cup of coffee from the local deli. Go to a local hardware store ( if you can still find one ) instead of Home Depot or Lowes. Boycott Hollywood's movies, READ A BOOK INSTEAD !! Eat at a local diner instead of a mega-chain restaurant. You might pay a bit more but you will likely get better quality food and it will hurt the evil corporations where it counts, in its profits. Of course we all should grow our own food whenever possible regardless of what Monsanto has to say about genetic copyrights etc. Drive less if possible to cut down big oil's obscene profits. Any one with other ideas on how to starve the beast, we would all love to hear them. These establishment assholes ain't seen nothing yet. It is nice they are getting nervous....BRING IT ON !! The harder they come the harder they fall one and all !!

I just heard from MoveOn.org that Mayor Bloomberg is planning to get rid of the Occupy Wall Street protesters by kicking them out of Zuccotti Park 7 a.m. tomorrow under the guise of a park clean up. The catch is they cannot return unless they don't bring tarps or sleeping bags and do not lie down. So they have to stand 24/7 with no protection against the elements. I just knew BURN DOWN Wall Street was a better idea !! So much for First Amendment rights in King Bloomberg's kingdom. What a fucking worm that guy is.

At 5:38 PM, Blogger Jefferson's Guardian said...

Ellis, since Bloomberg's undoubtedly a member of the targeted 1% (with a net worth of $18.1 billion in 2011, and is cited as the 13th richest person in the country), I suppose he's going into defensive mode. I guess his pals on Wall Street, and the Upper East Side, have complained about the nuisance of having to see them outside their windows each morning.

But I respectfully disagree with you concerning your last statement. Worms actually tower over this man.

Ellis D., Esq. and Jefferson's Guardian,
I agree with you, that Reich Liberal Republican Mayor of NYC, should not force our brave warriors out of their conquered and liberated park to clean it up..They should say as one (fingers pointing down) "Hell no, we wont go!" Our troops on the front line in the battle between "we the people" and them the what ever, should not be stopped for a potty break or even a potty clean up. It's just a plot to get our side to buy soap from those greedy soap manufactures.
To our Comrades fighting the fight for the 99% of us who agree with you, I say stay the course, stay in the park, stay until the Plague breaks out among you from the filth your living in and then you can really see how good free medical care is! It's your duty, plus, where else can you go to score such great drugs?

At 8:32 AM, Blogger Leslie Parsley said...

Bloomberg has caved - at least for now. Cleanup has been postponed.

At 9:08 AM, Blogger Ellis D., Esq. said...

Yes Bloomberg caved for now. Fox 5 News actually had coverage down at the park !! Donald Trump did a phone interview and stated he was against outsourcing of jobs !! Does he realize his rich friends all do just that ?? Maybe he should talk to them ?? JG I didn't mean to insult worms, they have their own problems !! So when are the 1% going down to the park to give some of their excess money to the protesters ?? Oh wait that would be way too hip for these jerks to even THINK about !!

JTF....those " filthy " living conditions in Zuccotti Park are a prelude to what life in Third World Amerika will be like if the 1% are not overthrown and removed as the controlling force in Amerika. So many folks now have so little to lose ( no job to lose, no home to lose, no bank account to lose ) that the establishment has good reason to be nervous. Its evil reign is seeing the beginning of its end. This must be how our founding fathers felt when they finally said fuck you to England and took up their muskets, aimed and fired. As for those great drugs you mentioned....I hope they are of the consciousness expanding variety and the cops get their much needed share and are shown the path to enlightenment !! A dosed cop is a good cop !! :-)

Tom, stumbled across this blog today. You really should move to a different platform or at least get your own web address; you are that good.

I'm sure we would disagree on a few things here and there but from what I've read so far I have to say I want you writing on my blog.

One other point, I can't find forgiveness for your 1980 vote for Reagan. Sorry bro. I tried but it's not in me. I might have been merely an infant at the time, but it's just a personal quirk of mine.

At 12:37 PM, Blogger Tom Degan said...

I don't blame you for not forgiving me, Chris. I've never forgiven myself. I have regretted that vote since the morning after Election Day 1980 - when I woke up stone-cold-sober.

Cheers!

These are interesting times. It's fascinating watching what was once the only remaining super-power devolve slowly into a third-world nation.

Admittedly, it would be more fun if it were someone else's country actually doing the devolving, but why quibble?

I'll be over here, learning how to operate a loom and a butter churn, if you need me.

The same applies for the Occupy DC and Stop the Machine! venues going on simultaneously in Washington this weekend. I plan to be at Freedom Plaza (14th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue) tomorrow, and possibly Sunday. If there are any loyal readers of Tom's who want to rendezvous, please e-mail me.

Hello, Lisa....

I certainly do intend on writing about it. Expect it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Will you be there?

I have a great idea. If there are any readers of this hideous site of LEFT WING PROPAGANDA who are going to be down on Wall Street this week, what say we all get together at some spot at some point. For a cup of tea - or worst. I'm game!

Cheers!

Tom

Ellis... you make devolution sound so intriguing. Maybe it's not as bad as I think it is. (It is, but I'm building a little cabin in Denial right now, so humor me.)

Tom -- If you guys get together for coffee, please take many photos, so we can have a record of your evil left-wing, traitorous, caffeine-fueled attempts at destroying America, God and little fuzzy puppies... those of us who can't attend will feel more a part of the festivities.

We are having an occupycanon tomorrow as well. there have been a few folks all week (two or three) fact is, in this burge if there ain't booze no one will come. So there will be twenty or so in a county with about 40,000 all told. We are lamborn (kill NPR and tar baby fame) country. But the honking and thumbs up have surprised us. Even cable and phone guys, truckers and a lot of old folks. It is always the same group of folks who do the political rabble rousing here. At least I know will we have more folks than the tea baggers had last year. enjoy your rants and Cantor is barely in first place compared to McCain. He creeps me out more. Or perhaps Leiberman, no HELL they are all zombies.

I think the OWS movement is the greatest thing to happen in years, but to have an actual effect on how this country is governed will take extreme measures. I remember watching millions protesting the Vietnam war for years with little effect, the fragging of officers on the battle field had a much larger effect. Because of that you will never see a draft again!

I would say we are the most corrupt country in the world today, trillions of dollars of tax payer money is is constantly being squandered and wasted. We could be living in a land of milk and honey if we could be a Democracy again.
