Here Comes the 114th

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both."

Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis

If you're still naive enough, after all the evidence to the contrary that has been assaulting your senses for decades, to perceive the GOP as "the party of moral values" you might want to pass this one by. You're beyond hope.

I'm looking forward to the next two years. Let's face some harsh realities, people: There has never been, in the lifetime of anyone reading this, an era as delightfully weird as the one we are living through now. And the beautiful thing to contemplate is the fact that it's going to get even weirder as the months transpire. In November of 2014, the American people put back in power the very party that created the mess that Barack Obama has spent six years trying to dig us out of. In spite of the mountains of obstruction he's had to deal with that has been hurled at him by the disloyal opposition (Let's stop kidding ourselves about their motives) he's been fairly successful given the sabotage tossed his way by the loonies in the extreme right wing. You've got to admire his fortitude. Let's hear it for the dude.

And now the assault begins. This year marks the eightieth anniversary of Social Security being made the law of the land. Since Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal made it possible in 1935, it has been a point of nasty contention for the Republicans. Americans who tend to vote with that party have long been in denial as to what the GOP would like to do with the program that has for eight decades saved hundreds of millions of senior citizens from dying in poverty. Between now and Election Day 2016, a lot of people in this country are going to wake up and face the nightmare they never imagined. And merely voting them out next time round won't be quite as easy as it has been in election cycles past. Count on them passing even more restrictive voter suppression laws between now and then. Remember, you read it here. This is going to be quite interesting.

As bad as the 113th Congress was (and they were one of the least productive congresses in the history of this doomed country) that body was only the overture for what is yet to come with the 114th. As Al Jolson liked to say back in his day, "Folks, you ain't seen nothin' yet!"  As worthless and impotent as the Democrats have become, the Republicans are beyond a molecule of redemption. And with the puppet of the one percent, Mitch McConnell, now installed as the senate majority leader, you can count on the disintegration of America's infrastructure going into overdrive. We have been living for some time in a plutocratic dictatorship. The process has evolved at such a snail's pace that most Americans have not noticed it. They'll notice it by Election Day 2016. You'd better believe they will.

Here's a little piece of handy trivia that I'm sure will amuse and delight you: As of this week, there are more Republican representatives in Washington than at any time since 1928. Isn't that lovely?

I usually end these things by saying words to the effect of, "But here's the good news". Don't ever take me seriously when I say that, it's only false optimism. The "good news" - so to speak - is usually the promise of barrels of unintentional laughs provided by the unintentional comedians of both parties. And while this political train wreck promises to be screamingly funny at a certain level, there is no silver lining behind this depressingly dark cloud. We might as well come face-to-face with the awful truth: The United States of America is skipping merrily into oblivion.  That's a really polite way of saying, "we're screwed", isn't it? I think so!

The bottom line is that, like the fall of the Roam empire, none of this will be boring. That's about the only positive thing I can think of at the moment. Ain't politics a riot?

Tom Degan
Goshen, NY

I couldn't leave you on such a depressing note.

The personnel on this 1928 recording are: Coleman Hawkins, Charles "Pee Wee" Russel, Glenn Miller, William "Red" McKenzie, and Jack Bland. It's nice to know that this was an integrated ensemble - such a rare thing in the twenties.

Listen to 24-year-old Glenn Miller's incredible trombone solo! In the sixteen years of life he had left, he never swung like this again. This is an amazing record!

Sore Loser once again disregards the years 2000-2008. Carter didn't have to cheat get reacjh office. Carter didn't take a budget surplus and turn it to record debt. He didn't allow the worst attack on American soil since the Civil War (espaecially after being warned it was imminent) and then attack countries that had nothing to do with it.

Carter didn't botch the response to a major natural disaster. He didn't crash the economy.

I guess if Sore Loser thinks Carter and Obama are "worse" than Bush we must question what he wants for America.

Low income workers say immigrants are taking 'our jobs, healthcare, housing'.

Low income Americans, more than any other income group, are angry with immigrants, believing that they are taking their jobs, healthcare and housing.

Providing a rare view into the battle between the poor and immigrants, the Pew Research Center found that 44 percent of the “least financially secure” in America believe immigrants hurt the United States because “they take our jobs, housing and health care.”

The results are from Pew’s new American Trends Panel, a nationally representative panel of randomly selected U.S. adults surveyed online and by mail.

Pew found that the political views of the poor are generally more liberal than the rich, except on immigration:

On only one item – perceptions of the economic impact of immigrants – are the least financially secure more conservative than those who are better off: 44% of the least secure say immigrants are a burden on the U.S. because “they take our jobs, housing and health care.” That is considerably higher than the share of the most financially secure (27%) who express this view.

Corretta Scott King, wife of the slain civil rights leader, warned way back in 1991 that illegal immigration would rob jobs from poor blacks and Hispanics.

In a July 9, 1991, letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, she and eight other civil rights and labor officials worried that businesses would look past low-wage minorities and hire even-lower wage illegals, increasing black and Hispanic unemployment.

America does not have a labor shortage.

(You mean the budget that produced a surplus that the GOP controlled Congress sent Clinton to sign? Or the GOP controlled Congress that reformed welfare under Clinton? Reforms that Obama has since done away with? And we now have 38 months straight of increasing numbers of Americans on food stamps? Hopefully this GOP controlled Congress can halt Obama from destroy America with his immigration policy's. That is what they were elected to do by the people in the 2014 midterms.)

And you really don't thnk the GOP congress created Clinton's surplus do you? Didn't Bush tell us that that surplus was due to Clinton overtaxing Americans? Is't that why he gave us all "rebates" (that were dedudcted from our next year's tax returns)

The Dangerous Myth About The Bill Clinton Tax Increase

One of the most dangerous myths that has infected the current debate over the direction of tax policy is the oft repeated claim that the tax increases under President Bill Clinton led to the boom of the 1990s. In their Wall Street Journal Op-Ed last Friday, for example, Clinton campaign manager James Carville and Democratic pollster and Clinton advisor Stanley Greenberg write the increase in the top tax rate to 39.6% “produced the one period of shared prosperity in this past era (since 1980).”

While this myth is now a central part of liberal Democratic folklore, it is contradicted by the political disaster and poor economic results that followed the tax increase. The real lesson of the Clinton Presidency is the way back to prosperity lies not through increased taxes on “the rich,” but through tax and regulatory reform and a return to a rules based monetary policy that produces a strong and stable dollar.

Speaking at a fund raiser in 1995, President Clinton said: ”Probably there are people in this room still mad at me at that budget because you think I raised your taxes too much. It might surprise you to know that I think I raised them too much, too.”

President Clinton took the first step toward a successful campaign for re-election and a shift in policy that produced the economic boom that occurred during his second term.

Welfare reform, which he signed in the summer of 1996, led to a massive reduction in the effective tax rates on the poor by ameliorating the rapid phase out of benefits associated with going to work.
The phased reduction in tariff and non-tariff barriers between the U.S., Mexico and Canada under the North American Free Trade Agreement continued, leading to increased trade.
In 1997, Clinton signed a reduction in the (audible liberal gasp) capital gains tax rate to 20% from 28%.
The 1997 tax cuts also included a phased in increase in the death tax exemption to $1 million from $600,000, and established Roth IRAs and increased the limits for deductible IRAs.
Annual growth in federal spending was kept to below 3%, or $57 billion.
The Clinton Administration also maintained its policy of a strong and stable dollar. Over his entire second term, consumer price inflation averaged only 2.4% a year.

It was a prosperity produced by freeing America’s poor from a punitive welfare system, lowering tariffs, reducing tax rates on the creators of wealth, limiting the growth of federal government expenditures, and providing a strong and stable dollar to businesses and families in America and throughout the world.

Obama’s Shattered Presidency Townhall Magazine Jan 05, 2015

"Maybe the most painful loss for Democrats was the nationwide reproach voters dealt the intellectually vacuous War on Women. A media once predisposed to be friendly toward the fictitious assault on women’s rights almost universally caricatured candidates who based their campaigns on this tired theme.

Before the voters rejected him, Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) was dubbed “Mark Uterus” in Colorado’s local press and denied the endorsement of the state’s largest paper as a result of his insulting “one-note” focus on women’s issues. The ill-prepared backbencher Wendy Davis, who only managed to secure the gubernatorial nomination after the national press made her into a celebrity following her filibuster in support of the rights of women to abort babies in the middle of the second trimester, not only lost among all Texans by more than 20 points, but she also failed to even get a majority of women. Even Sandra Fluke, who moved to California to begin her political career as a state senator after serving as the face of the War on Women, lost to a fellow Democrat by nearly 22 points despite raising $1 million."

LOL LOL on the Progressives who drank the kool-aid from their central planning masters about the "War On Women".

The biggest buffoon was the tough thick skulled prison guard who harped on and foamed at the mouth about the "GOP's War On Women". Thanks for the laughs Dave!

The key to understanding what's been going on for over 1,400 years is understanding that Islam is NOT a religion as we've been repeatedly been told. It is a systems of government, a system of control over social, cultural, economic, legal AND religious institutions that uses religious rules to enforce its authoritarian control.

It can not co-exist within another culture or civilization because at its core it seeks to supplant all others. Individuals who practice the religious aspects of Islam and reject the others, what Bill Maher correctly calls nominal Muslims (as opposed to moderate) can coexist while those who don't will always be in conflict with whatever non-Islamic culture, civilization or religion they come into contact with.

While the laws against “parent-child and brother-sister marriages . . . are grounded in the almost universal horror with which such marriages are viewed . . . there is no comparably strong objection to uncle-niece marriages,” Tuesday’s ruling reads.

Really? You think that 3% of the populations controlling 95% of the wealth is what caused depression?
Where did you get that statistic?

2011
Top 1% had avg tax rate of 23.5% and paid 35.1% of income taxes
Top 50% had avg tax rare of 13.8% and paid 97.1% of income taxes
Bottom 50% had tax rate of 3.13% and paid 2.89% of income taxes.
Source Taxfoundation.org

2013 same as above

1913 (I know its over 75 years ago which you said is not important even though you did bring up the depression which started over 75 years ago)
Top rate was 7%
1918
Top rate was 77% (in part this rate was to pay off the debt cost of WW1 as was the huge increase during and after WWII, IE: from under 10% by FDR to over 85% after 1941)

Share of taxes collected by income
income 1926 1928
under $5000 1.8% 1.1%
5000-10k 2.7% 2.0%
10k-25k 9.8% 7.1%
25 to over 100k 34.7% 61.3%
Source Heritage.org

It's clear to me that you are correct, THE TOP INCOME EARNERS NOT PAYING ENOUGH IN INCOME TAXES CAUSED THE GREAT DEPRESSION!

Under the evil GWB the bottom 50% of income earners percentage of taxes paid DROPPED from 3.97% in 2001 to 2.7 in 2008%
At the same time the percentage of income taxes paid by the top 50% of earners went UP from 96.03 in 2001 to 97.30% in 2008.

I must have missed it, but where are all the tax cuts for the very rich that Radical Progressives have lied about so often that it has become an urban legend?

click on my name for my last source(hint: it's not Limbaugh or Fox News)

And dont bring up that old Radical Progressive myth that corporations don't pay any taxes.
Don't forget that
a. the people the corporations employee pay taxes and their SS
b. Federal tax rates on corporate taxable income vary from 15% to 35%.
c. At 35%, the United States has the highest nominal top corporate tax rate in any of the world's developed economies. Good ole USA, we'er number ONE!

I know this is not as catchy as "tax the rich" or "people before profits."
But it's real. I doubt the Radical Progressives will understand much less believe any of it.

Shortages Undermine
Venezuela´s Teetering Socialism
Venezuelans are being arrested for posting Internet photos of shortages in stores. So let´s get this straight: Murder and mayhem are de facto legal in that crime pit, but posting evidence of socialism´s failure merits jailing. As socialism plays out to its logical conclusion in Venezuela, the specters of long lines, rationing, troop enforcers, bizarre edicts and desperate statements are now the order of the day. Not only have more than a dozen Venezuelans been arrested for posting photographs of empty store shelves on social media, three governors have responded to long lines by — prohibiting them; ordering the arrest of those in ordering the arrest of anyone who lines up for goods before sunrise.

And along with 80% food-price inflation, an economy premised on importing 70% of its food supply, and a minimum wage that covers only 17% of a basic food basket, it's obvious that the POOR are SUFFERING the most FROM 16 YEARS of SOCIALISM.

Which is what Venezuela's bishops stated in a pastoral letter that powerfully denounced the poverty and ruin brought to their country.

The government's decision to "impose a political-economic system" that is "socialist, Marxist or communist," "totalitarian and centralist" and "undermines the freedom and rights of individuals and associations" is to blame, they wrote.

The system, they said, has failed wherever it's been tried and "created growing poverty among large sectors of the population, particularly among those with the fewest economic resources."

The statement resonates because it says what no politician has been willing to utter, said Pedro Burelli, a Venezuelan policy expert based in Washington and a former board member of the state oil company PDVSA.

"Nobody has been willing to call a spade a spade," he said, citing an unwillingness even among Venezuela's opposition to characterize the effects of socialism on the poor. "They've always been in awe of (the late strongman Hugo) Chavez, and never understood that (the largess of his socialism) was fueled by an unsustainable oil boom and it was going to collapse."

Thanks to socialism, the country is falling apart. This week, UBS investment bank estimated that Venezuela had an 80% likelihood of default this year.

Once again, sore loser's jingoistic, right winger politics lessens the sum total of human knowledge with each post he makes. In this week's dose, he tries to condemn socialism by citing Venezuela as a poster child for socialism's failures. Never once does he ponder that the Venezuelan economy might be mismanaged. Moreover, he doesn't admit that the world's most advanced economies are socialized democracies. Why does he never envy those economies?
He also seeks to depict this country's wealthy as overtaxed, a burden tossed upon their poor backs by "radical progressives." Why doesn't this shallow one-note cite the true problem America suffers from, namely. a concentration of wealth at the top? Does he admit that the middle class has shared none of the income growth in the past 35 years in spite of soaring middle class productivity?
The world is not black and white except in the eyes of this column's resident stumphead. What a charmed life he must lead.

Spore Loser, I have a life, so I can't be here 24/7.

Second, when you learn how the government works, and develop some common sense, I'l debate with you.

But then if you had common sense and knew how the government works, there would be nothing to debate.

When oil prices were high, conservatives blamed Obama because he hadn't fixed the economy fast enough.

NOW Conservatives are blaming Obaba for LOW oil prices , because it's bad for the economy when fuel prices are low.

There were more refineries running under Obama than under Bush, and fuel prices were still high. It's got nothng to do with drilling.

If oil prices are this low without the XL pipeline, what's the big emergency to build it?

Chuck, everybody here has their own writing style and it is fairly easy to differentiate who is who.
You have almost always used Hanson when addressing me so I have to assume you are the impersonator on the Rant.

On another note you do not have a clue about what is happening in the oil business.
Five hundred billion dollars of junk bond securities financing the fracking industry will go up in smoke because the price of oil is too low.

All the small companies will go out of business and no new wells will be drilled. By 2016 there will be a banking crisis and sky high gas prices.

Also our regime change bullshit in Russia will cause the U.S. to lose the petro dollar and hyper inflation will follow.

2016 will be a time of monumental change and none for the better.

Neighbor of mine was complaining about all the money the IRS squandered on hotel rooms for themselves.

I saw an interesting comment on another site by someone who addressed that issue:

"BTW, the “$3,000/night suite” claim sounded like something worth checking out, so I Googled. This is referring to an IRS conference in 2010, where several of the top brass stayed in suites that have a rack price of $1,500/night. So already a Fox News lie, but it’s even more of a lie than that, because the IRS negotiated all the rooms, including the suite upgrades, down to $135/night. So he’s only off by more than 22 times. The writer quoted in the post, and making that claim, BTW, is the same guy whose contributions to the Kansas City Star are no longer welcome because they caught him lying (about different stuff) and making them look stupid. The key to understanding what's been going on for years in the "Bible Belt" is understanding that conservative evangelical christianity is NOT a religion as we've repeatedly been told. It is a system of government, a system of control over social, cultural, economic, legal AND religious institutions that uses religious rules to enforce its authoritarian control.

It cannot co-exist within another culture or civilization because at its core it seeks to supplant all others. Individuals who practice the religious aspects of conservative evangelical christianity will always be in conflict with whatever non-conservative evangelical christian culture, civilization or religion they come into contact with.

At 12:37 AM, Blogger Dave Dubya said...

Yes Harley, Caprice did nail it. It was a satiric parody of Paul's over generalized, stereotyped rant about Muslims.

In the sense the latter was a parody instead of bigotry-tinged intolerance, it succeeded.

The past 1400 years show both Islam and Christianity had similar characteristics. Both did in fact influence governments and displayed intolerance. Remember the crusades and inquisitions? How about the libraries Muslims kept and the science they preserved while Christendom burned libraries and witches during the dark ages?

And today fundamentalists are steering government to their agenda in many Republican controlled states. It is religion driven authoritarian control to reduce reproductive rights of women and force them to undergo medical procedures against their will. "Religious" corporate "persons" can interfere between employees and their insurance.

And that is enough grain of truth on its own to make the parody and satire work.

You see the grain of truth is behind effective parody and satire.

I don't blame Barry for all this stupidity. I blame the fools who elected him.

An article in the Prague newspaper, Prager Zeitungon:

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President."

She's pretty, speaks well, and said nothing of substance which means she was there with the hope she can be a right wing prospect for veep. What any of them believe or will do remains to be seen as they always talk-- compassionate conservative right up until they get power and push their right wing values onto everybody else.

But knowing that will happen when is rains little green apples, I thought I'd give a few sources (that I'm sure Dumbya will claim are right wing rags) that support the statement that Putin is not a Commie.

I believe what Spiegel says about Putin is the closest to what he is.

In other news, Obama says he wants to work with GOP after they have under his administration, taken 80 democrat seats in Congress, but then promises veto's on bills that even members of his party want passed.

Apparantly Sore Loser has never heard of "Gerrymandering". Also maybe he was still in the basement playing video games when it was all over the news how the GOP disenfranchised tens of thousands of legal voters in each of several states so they could cheat their way in that way as well. Bush got "selected" president in 2000, electronic voting machines built by a close family friend got him "reselected" in 2004. Now they redraw voting districts everywhere (Bransdat was just bragging about how "efficient" they have become at that just the other day) and come up with ridiculous new laws (right after the SCOTUS dumped about half the voting rights act)requiring ID's from the poor and minorities (Most of whom coincidentally vote Democrat) that were NEVER required before, even thought the "votor fraud" they claimed caused the changes never actually existed)

So Sore Loser can brag all he wants. If one has to CHEAT to win, it's not REALLY a victory is it? The voices of billionare corporations were heard. The PEOPLE were ignored.

He must be a New England Patriots fan.

The Senate races are state races - not nationwide races. So, the comparison of seats won to popular vote doesn't mean much - unless we get rid of the republic and have a national democracy. So, by the nature of how Senate seats are allocated, it isn't unusual to have that "imbalance", right? I don't think it means the "will of the people" is thwarted. It is a structural phenomenon of the way it is set up...

At 3:31 PM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

Harley, I think the point is that even thought NATIONWIDE Dems gpot more votes, the GOP somehow manages to CLAIM that they won an election, which clearly they didn't. The people spoke, the GOP just only listened to those they wanted to hear from, meaning the Billionares.

At 4:37 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Right, but the point of the Senate by definition is not to be a proportional body but rather a body defined by the equality of states regardless of population. So, it is certainly a political victory for either party if they take Senate seats - regardless of the combined total votes. It is in place to maintain the balance between state and Federal power.

I'm not sure what else to call it other than a "win", even though more total D votes were recorded than R votes. In the case of the Senate that is, by definition, irrelevant...

At 4:47 PM, Blogger Dave Dubya said...

Harley,

I know how it works.

The point was the "the will of the people" spouted by Republicans isn't correct. MOST Americans don't want them.

Clearly we DO, but since fair elections don't work out well for the GOP these days...

Were they denied that right by some law, or did they just CHOOSE not to participate because they could not support any of the GOP candidates, and they would not vote for a BLACK man?

Tell us Oh Master please, how that was Obama's fault.

At 6:28 PM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

I just did a Google search for SOre Loser's "4 million missing GOP voters"

Even though the ONLY plce reporting ANYTHING of the sort are ultra right wing sites, even THEY don't say that it was 4 million REPUBLICAN voters. They say WHITE voters who could have voted either way.

Maybe that's because the only people that matter to Republicans are White people.

The point being that there were no laws PREVENTING them from voting, they just didn't like the choice between a Black man and a Mormon.

On the other hand Minority votes were either disenfranchised or simply thrown out in Florida in 2000, and now it's legal everywhere because the SCOTUS thinks there is no racism in America. As a reult several red states passed actual LAWS preventing many otherwise legal voters from participating.

At 6:55 PM, Anonymous sore loser said...

Mozart,
I can see your new Obama glasses have really improved your typing and spelling.

First of all where do you get your claim of GOP voter suppression, from left wing rags?
Instead of Googling simple go to a Federal Govt website compare the number of vote for the GOP candidate in 2008 vs 2012. There is a 4 million vote difference and NOT an 4 million increase in votes for Obama.

Next your argument that GOP voters didn't like their choice also applies to the mid term elections where the DNC lost 80 seats, the voters didn't like the choice offered in the Congressional races so they stayed home.
Finally if your theory of the GOP cheating and all the other SORE LOSER crap you use to excuse a defeat is true, then explain how the DNC has taken Congress in past years? Was it voter suppression of GOP voters or the voice of Americans?

Losing 80 Congressional seats in two elections is a pretty loud demand from the American people to stop the policy's of Obama, no matter how you cut it.

Your argument is pure drivel

If Obama was not a man-child he should have said "see this is what I am talking about on civility" after the applause. He would have rose way above the fray and actually made the GOP look much worse by taking the high road.

But as we have seen over 6 years, there is no high road with Obama. He possesses a paper thin resume and lacks the maturity and leadership ability to find the high road. The GOP should not have applauded and Obama, well as usual, Obama should not have acted stupidly.

Amber Payne, Editor "

The point I"m trying to make to Mozart, and I admit it might be a lost cause (Operation Lost Cause, LOL?), is while his head is filled with visions of the evil Koch's by Maddow, he is unaware of the events that are really evil and effecting America. For all the caterwauling about FOX News, his choice of information is supporting his view of evil. Which is partisan to the left and now heading back to the Jim Crow, separate but equal segregationist days

As for my being partisan, it seems you again miss my point.
How does Gerrymandering produced more Republican Governors than Democrats Governors and has given control of the Senate to the GOP? The claim that gerrymandering by the GOP is the only reason they control the House ignores the fact that the GOP holds the majority of Governorships and the Senate, positions that can't be gerrymandered. And as I predicted, Mozart would claim the GOP cheated. That was my point, that Mozart is blind to the reasons voters voted against his position.

A little truth in blogging is necessary at this time.
One of the central reasons for my continued support of the GOP has been their position on abortion. I unashamedly admit to being opposed to the legalization of abortion. Recent actions on abortion by the GOP has lessen my support of the GOP, a lot. But since I cant find any pro life democrat candidates, I will vote in the future only for the pro life candidate or not vote at all.
I'm that partisan on that issue.

The Senate Reached A Milestone This Week, Already More Amendments Voted On Than All Of 2014!
…Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took the time to point out that in three short weeks there have been more votes done this year than in all of 2014 when Senator Harry Reid and the Democrats had control.

The lucky bill to receive the fifteenth vote? The Keystone XL Pipeline bill.

Mozart, what about the efficiency of the Liberals "War On Poverty"? We have spent over 15 TRILLION on it and poverty is increasing!

Detroit is breeding poverty like many other urban areas that are part of the Liberal Plantation:
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120212/OPINION03/202120303

Look at the former Michigan Governor 2003 though 2011, Jennifer Mulhern Granholm, whose leadership oversaw a severe economic downturn, skyrocketing unemployment, Detroit’s emerging bankruptcy, and the meltdown of the automotive industry, is now a professor specializing in job growth.

Under Granholm, Michigan’s unemployment rate soared from 6.6 percent at the beginning of Granholm’s term up to 14.2 percent in 2009, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In fact, Granholm presided over one of the largest economic declines in Michigan history and herself fled the state in search of employment. Michigan, during her tenure, had the distinction of one of the highest unemployment ratings in the nation, one of the highest population declines, and being the only state in the union with negative economic growth.

Imagine that, a clueless Liberal buffoon who helped tank Michigan is now going to teach about job growth. Think she will highlight her leadership of Michigan in her classes LOL LOL? She should highlight her experience as Governor in Michigan of what NOT to do to improve job growth!

It will be good to have a Senate Vote on the Keystone Pipeline even if King Barry vetoes it. Let the Democrats who vote against it be on record for the voters to see for the 2016 election.

That clueless Liberal buffoon Jennifer Mulhern Granholm, former Governor of Michigan, who oversaw its sinking to the bottom ought to take a class taught by Texas Governor Rick Perry on how to create jobs.

Granholm would be an expert if there was a class on "Worst Governors in American History" or "How to Breed Poverty and Grow Dependent Democratic Low Information Voters Who Want Free Stuff for the Liberal Plantation". Those classes she could effectively teach.

He will defend out of control incompetent central planning big government till the day he dies. He will attack like a rabid raccoon those who point out the failures of Socialism and how it eventually always runs out of other people's money to spend.

Michigan's economy is near the bottom amongst the States thanks to buffoons like ex Governor Jennifer Mulhern Granholm and the Democrats, with their progressive economic policies, who have destroyed Michigan.

Dave Dubya's replies were all over the place but nowhere near my posts.

His most rabid post, that made me chuckle, pulled in Sarah Palin as though that had some relevance. I am no fan of Sarah Palin but at least Sarah Palin did not tank Alaska the way Jennifer Mulhern Granholm tanked Michigan to the bottom like the Edmund Fitzgerald.

So what is a "Radical Progressive" to a fascist hate monger?

Most Americans.
A CNN poll (6/9/14) found 71 percent of the public supporting an increase in the minimum wage, including a majority of Republicans and conservatives. In November, voters in the Republican-leaning states of Arkansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Alaska passed ballot initiatives to increase the minimum wage by large margins (Huffington Post, 11/4/14).

A HuffPost/YouGov poll (6/20/13) found that 74 percent of the US public supports requiring companies to offer paid sick leave to their employees; paid maternity leave garnered 61 percent approval. In a number of recent polls, the idea of free community college received majority support (The Hill,1/20/15)–one poll found that more Republicans favored the measure than opposed it, rather remarkable given that the idea was only recently popularized by President Obama himself.

Nothing in Moderation
What if the notion that a large segment of the electorate is made up of moderates who hunger for centrist compromise is illusory? What if ordinary voters are, in many respects, even more extreme in their views than members of Congress?
Two political science graduate students at Berkeley, David E. Broockmanand Douglas J. Ahler, have made a persuasive case that not only are there few voters who are actually centrist or moderate, but that many voters – and on some issues, a majority of voters – are further to the left or right than the congressmen and legislators who represent them.

I could say it's their hysteria that fuels their Radicalism. But I won't.
I could say it's because they live in a Radical Progressive bubble cult. Bit I won't.

Radical Progressives really believe that when the GOP takes control of Congress it doesn't mean the people are rejecting their programs, they believe the GOP cheated, or the voters were suppressed or the voters were stupid.
When the GOP losses however, Progressives give the GOP all kinds of advise. Like you need to become more liberal, you are going to disappear, you are not listening to the people.

Out of the goodness of my heart I'm going to give Racial Progressives some advice.

You need to become more conservative.
You are not listening to what the people are saying.
After losing 80 seats in Congress, you are disappearing!
Your programs are not favored by the majority of voters.
You need to move more to the center.

What's even stranger is Dumbya now wants me to explain to him what is a Radical Progressive? If he had read my posts concerning classical liberalism and it's demise under the assault of Radical Progressiveness he would know. But, hey wait, he commented on my explanation, so why is acting like he doesn't know what I mean?

Can you say deflection?

Subprime Scandal: We've long suspected the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission wasn't honest in examining events before the meltdown. But an ex-commissioner says the probe was actually a full-blown political cover-up.

In a just-released book, former FCIC member Peter Wallison says that a Democratic Congress worked with the commission's Democratic chairman to whitewash the government's central role in the mortgage debacle. The conspiracy helped protect some of the Democrats' biggest stars from scrutiny and accountability while helping justify the biggest government takeover of the financial sector since the New Deal.

Wallison's sobering, trenchantly written "Hidden in Plain Sight: What Really Caused the World's Worst Financial Crisis and Why It Could Happen Again" reveals that the Democrat-led panel buried key data proving that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and other federal agencies pushed the housing market over the subprime cliff. The final FCIC report put the blame squarely on Wall Street.

In 2009, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed her California pal Phil Angelides, a long-time Democrat operative, to lead the commission. The fix seemed to be in, and Wallison's account of the inner workings of the 10-member body confirms it. Here's what took place during the FCIC's 18-month, $10 million probe:

• Angelides provided no staff to help Wallison and other Republicans interview witnesses, conduct research or draft the report. But commission Democrats were assigned almost 80 staffers to help formulate their single theory that bank risk-taking and greed unleashed by deregulation caused the crisis.

• Angelides never notified Wallison or other commissioners about the hundreds of witnesses he called to testify in closed-door interviews with his staff, denying them the chance to cross-examine the witnesses.

• Staffers failed to put these private witnesses under oath, even though the final report was based almost exclusively on their testimony with little or no documents or data to back up their statements, which simply validated the Democrat narrative.

• Angelides buried evidence revealing that by 2008, three in four high-risk mortgages wound up on the books of HUD-controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac or agencies such as the Federal Housing Administration. A data-rich memo by former Fannie Mae chief credit officer Ed Pinto proved that government, not the private sector, drove risky lending. But Pinto's research "was never formally made available by the chair or staff to the other members of the FCIC," Wallison writes.

• Angelides withheld the final draft of the report from Wallison and other commissioners until eight days before sending it to the printer, never giving them the time they needed to go over the wording or content of the almost 900-page draft.

• After Wallison filed a 43,000-word dissent, Angelides removed all but 9,000 words of it from the report widely distributed in bookstores.

Angelides effectively censored any hard evidence that the government's housing policies were the predominant cause of the financial crisis. The best-selling report was cooked up from the start.

As a result, Fannie and Freddie, now under full federal control, are back making low down payment loans to low-income borrowers, and the Dodd-Frank-mandated Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is forcing banks to ignore credit risks in the name of affordable housing.

A corrupt investigation led to corrupt reforms. What we need now, in light of Wallison's revelations, is an investigation of the investigation, along with a top-to-bottom review of Dodd-Frank rules. It's necessary that Republicans hold public hearings so Americans will know how they were lied to about the crisis and how they're being led down the garden path.

Mentally challenged trolls will believe anything: "biggest government takeover of the financial sector"

Good idea, but not real. "Too big to fail" banks seem over the heads of some nitwits.

Now Republicans are scampering to give Wall Street everything they want.

Clinton was in office before Bush, and was very focused on increasing home ownership. The Democrats ran Congress starting in 2007, right as things began to collapse.

This was and is a bipartisan issue.

Obama, Barney Frank and the rest of the Dems openly campaigned against the banks and financial institutions, accusing them of discriminatory/racist lending practices because they did not loan money to people who were viewed as credit risks. This pressure put on the banks back in 2005-2006, coupled with the Dems using the Feds to buy up high-risk loans from these same banks, was the reason that loans were made in the first place.

Does anyone one recall what Maxine Waters/ Barney Franks/Lacy Clay said when GWB wanted to audit/investigate Fanny?

By 2004, all of the elements of the current financial collapse had been in place for several years. The aggressive approach to enforcing the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) started under Bill Clinton in 1998, and the seemingly endless appetite for paper by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had turned massive amounts of bad loans into mortgage-backed securities to spread their cancer throughout the system. In 2004, a year after the Bush administration tried to tighten regulation and oversight on Fannie and Freddie, Congress was told yet again that disaster loomed. The Democratic response is instructive to seeing who really sat back and allowed this collapse to occur.

Through nearly a dozen hearings, we were frankly trying to fix something that wasn’t broke. Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and particularly at Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Franklin Raines. [Raines would barely avoid prosecution for fraud.] M. Waters

I don’t see anything in this report that raises safety and soundness problems. B Frank

This hearing is about the political lynching of Franklin Raines. L. Clay

Harry,

What you see in Dumbya's knee jerk response is what happens when the truth about the housing collapse is presented, IE:
He blames it on racism!
It is clear to me that as long as the lie called the "Great Bush Recession" is not challenged, the Radical Progressives that control the DNC will continue to wage their war of class envy and faux racism, towards their u goal of "fundamentally changing America".

The Washington Post article that can be linked to by clicking my name, goes further into the results of CRA started in 1998 under Clinton and stops just short of blaming the shattering of the American Dream, for wealthy blacks being due to racism. One comment going so far as to claim that

"When an entire industry colludes to target a specific group to fleece, defraud, lie to, and any other comparable criminal acts, in the exchange of property because of that group's desire to attain the American Dream which can be all consuming, the industry will carefully train its agents to never disclose the facts of the contract except those which trap the buyer into accepting a deal they can't refuse."

Ignoring the fact that the term "industry" he used could be replaced by the word Democrat Party.

What will be worthy to watch is how the Obama Administration address this in it's last two years in power. I look for a major effort to further redistribute wealth.

SL, you sure are grasping at straws, the CRA was created in 1977 did not have any part in the sub prime housing collapse of 2008. Here is a little C&P:

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, removed barriers in the market among banks, securities companies and insurance companies, allowing banks to dabble in mortgage loans, mortgage-backed securities, and mortgage insurance.
The act was co-sponsored by Senator Phil Gramm, Representative Jim Leach, and Representative Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. -- all Republicans.
It helped create gigantic, do-everything financial entities that were too big to fail.
Phil Gramm took a prominent role in the banking industry after he left Congress, and in 2005 led the push for banking industry-backed legislation which would have lifted restrictions on predatory lending.
The great majority of bad loans were made by non-bank lenders like Ameriquest, Countrywide, and New Century. They collected points on the loan, and then bundled and sold them off to Goldman Sachs and other securities dealers, often misleadingly stating that they were AAA-rated investments.

Throwing a bunch of Liberal names out there does not change the fact that Republicans were calling all the shots back then.
They fucked up and you are too partisan to admit it.

"SL, you sure are grasping at straws, the CRA was created in 1977 did not have any part in the sub prime housing collapse of 2008. Here is a little C&P:"

The CRA was started by Carter to lower established lending standards by banks to encourage more loans to higher risk applicants (hint minorities).

The CRA became more aggressive over the years into forcing banks to make more risky loans.

For many years prior to the CRA, banks did not make these more risky loans.

If the CRA never forced banks to make loans to deadbeats, the subprime housing collapse would not have happened.

To say the CRA had no part is progressive bullshit.

At 10:07 PM, Anonymous James Hansen said...

The CRA was created in part to force banks from Redlining. Back then banks would take a map and draw a red line around a predominantly black neighborhood. Anyone living in the red zone was not able to get a mortgage even if they could put down 75%

The CRA forced banks to give mortgages to QUALIFIED black people. It tried to put an end to racist banking practices.

To say the CRA forced banks to lend to unqualified people is silly shit.

At 11:41 PM, Anonymous Sore Loser said...

Mr. James Hansen,

Then why were so many loans given to
UNQUALIFIED black people?

Why didn't Jimmy Carter veto the CRA if it was such a bad idea?

Are you simply ignoring the historical facts of how the CRA was abused and misused under Clinton, or did you not know that?

Are you aware of GWB and McCain trying to investigate the malpractice funding being done by Fanny and Freddy under the guise of the CRA but were told "there's no problem here"?

Do you as Dumbya discount the facts presented to you of what Waters, Clay and Frank said bout Fanny, a few years before it failed and had to be bailed out by the tax payer?

Do you realize that if as Dumbya claims CRA was sponsored by Republicans and if as you claim it was done to force banks from racist Redlining, that this fly's in the face of the prevailing Radical Progressive belief that the GOP is a secrete branch of the KKK?

Did you read the investigation showing that banks were forced to give loans to unqualified borrowers? I provided it for you.

What Radical Progressives really want to achieve.
Taxes –

Do you actually believe there is a number, a percentage of wages, that progressives are aiming for?

They want it all. They want the state to control all wealth, and they want all wealth distributed equally, some people being more equal than others.

Voting –

Do you actually believe that progressives are simply fighting for the right for each citizen to vote? They do not want voting. They are pushing for felons to vote, and non-citizens to vote, which would essentially end voting in America forever. Once all voting is locked up by the left, it’s not a vote anymore. That’s the goal, a Saddam Hussein “democracy,” with Kubuki theater election days.

Sex –

Do you actually think that progressives will be content once they’re able to classify gender as a meaningless concept? Next will be the task of rendering age and species meaningless, making every living thing a sexual being, with no stigmas, no shame, no judgment.

Life –

Do you actually think that progressives are anti- capital punishment for any other reason but political? Do you think they are kindly gentle souls who can’t bear to see a living human die? Explain partial birth abortion.

Once progressivism is fully ensconced, many, many people will be executed in a variety of ways for a variety of reasons. Healthcare will be rationed, killing off undesirables, and this will preserve precious resources, Gaia resources.

Freedom of Speech –

Do you actually think progressives are for freedom of speech? Not a day goes by where they aren’t angling to get a radio show shut down, a speaker booted off of campus or a Christian muzzled for saying “hurtful things.” If progressives had dictatorial power there would be wholesale censorship of all thought that is bothersome to the left.
http://iotwreport.com/?p=271882

Do you think any of the Radical Progressives who post here will disagree with this or will they simply go for moral equivalency or an homines thereby accepting these as the truth?

Sore Loser either forgets or simply cant understand, that the "parties" switched affiliations around 1964 when Pres. Johnson signed the Civil Rights act.

1. A southern CONSERVATIVE killed Lincoln, because the LIBERAL minded Lincoln worked to end slavery, and beat the South in the Civil War.

2. Garfeild was shot by Charles Guiteau, a minister and REPUBLICAN supporter who actually worked to get Garfeild elected, and was angry for not getting credit and a job in the administration. He was certainly not a "Democrat".

3. Why would an ALLEGED "left wing Socialist" (Oswald) want to assasinate a President who had been called " a bleeding heart LIBERAL"? Oswald didn't kill Kennedy. The CIA and big buisiness did after Kennedy threatened to break up the CIA and stop the Vietnam war, which would have cost "defense contractors" BILLIONS over the next decade. He also was about to cut the tax breaks for the oil industry.(George H.W. Bush made his money in oil in Texas, and was in the CIA at the time. Hmmm...) Go figure he was killed in TEXAS. Like 9-11, the "official story" has so many holes in it it's amazing ANYONE bought it.

4. Squeaky Fromme was not a Democrat. She was a Manson nutcase. Manson was a conserative minded bigot who thought Blacks were too stupid to run the world after the race war Manson thought was coming. He felt he'd have to take over. He was a meglomaniac. (Like Dick Cheney)
Sarah Jane Moore was a CHRISTIAN and an FBI informant.

(Interesting note, Gerald Ford's Chiefs of Staff were Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney. Ford was also on the Warren Commission which covered up the Real story behind the Kennedy assasination)

5. John Hinkley JR, who attempted to kill Reagan, is the son of a Texas oil man who was close friends with George H.W.Bush, and who worked to get Bush elected in 1980. Hinkley was NOT a "registered Democrat". Oh,and it was in 1981, NOT 1983 that the attempt took place. Like I said, a high school civics course would serve you well.

I'm not going to go through the rest of that nonsense, but Sore Loser, I suggest once again that you should take a simple high school class on the US government and American history. Regurgitatiing Limbaugh word for word is NOT serving you well.

I shot down the first few on your list with 5 minutes of research. Had you done a simple fact check yourself, you wouldn't have made such a fool of yourself.

Patrick Sherril, ex marine who hated minorities. Doesn't sound like a Democrat.

James HUBERTY went to a JESUIT community college and was convinced that government overregualtion cost him jobs. Doesn't sound like a liberal.

Had any kind of intelligent common sense gun laws been in place, James Pough woiuld never had been able to get the guns he owned and used. The Police never had any idea he'd been ruled mentally unstable. There is no information available on his political affiliation. Limbaugh made it up.

George Hennard was ex Navy and Merchant Marine, who clearly by all accounts, hated women. A family member of one of his victims actually got Geroge W. Bush to EASE restrictions on handguns so more people coould get concealed carry permits, making it EASIER for people like him to aquire weapons. Go figure.

I have speant a little time now fact checking Sore Loser's list, and NO WHERE does it list political affiliation for 90% of the list. HOW DOES SORE LOSER KNOW WHAT POLITICAL PARTY THEY AFFILIATED WITH?

Oh, yeah, Limbaugh said it, so SL has to repeat it.

Why doesn't Sore Asshole source his absurd lies and radical Right Wing propaganda?

Maybe he’d feel stupid quoting the dim bulb Victoria Jackson? Nah.

Fact Check Email was wrong about recent mass killers being liberals

The worst domestic act of terrorism was carried out by a Right Wing Christian and veteran named Tim McVeigh.

Here’s another list list that is factual:

On Aug. 10, 1999 White supremacist Buford O. Furrow, Jr., fired 70 rounds with an Uzi-type submachine-gun inside the lobby of the Jewish Community Center in Granada Hills, CA wounding three children, a teenage counselor and an office worker. He then carjacked a woman’s Toyota at gunpoint, dumped it behind a motel and murdered US Postal Worker Joseph Santos with a Glock 9mm handgun.

On July 27, 2008 Former U.S. Army private, Jim David Atkinsson, who hated Democrats, liberals, African Americans and homosexuals, using a Remington Model 48 12-gauge shotgun, murdered two people and injured seven others inside the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, TN.

The day after Obama’s inauguration, white supremacist Keith Luke went on a killing spree in Brockton, Massachusetts. His goal was to kill as many Jews, blacks and Hispanics as possible. When questioned by investigators, the deranged gunman who had stockpiled hundreds of rounds of ammunition, proclaimed that he was fighting the extinction of the white race.

A little over a month later, Dannie Baker, a former Republican campaign volunteer shot five Chilean immigrants in Florida. Those who knew him said he was obsessed with the fear that illegal immigrants were taking over the country.

In April of 2009, Richard Popalowski, a white supremacist in Pittsburgh, shot and killed three police officers following a domestic disturbance call. He apparently thought that Obama was part of a government conspiracy to seize all guns, and he feared the government would take his guns away.

Later the same month, a Fort Walton Beach Florida man who thought the Obama administration was conspiring against him, shot and murdered two sheriff’s deputies.

On May 31, 2009 Dr. George Tiller was murdered in his own church by a right-wing “pro- life” gun man who decided to express his belief in the sanctity of human life by executing a medical doctor.

Eleven days later a right-wing white supremacist and Holocaust denier walked into the National Holocaust Museum and killed an African-American security guard. Two weeks later, three Neo-Nazis were arrested for bombing a diversity office in Scottsdale, Arizona.

On April 20, 2010 a member of the Sovereign Citizen movement was arrested after a failed attempt to take over a Tennessee county courthouse.

Exactly one month later, in West Memphis Arkansas, Sovereign citizens Jerry and Joe Kane murdered two police officers before they themselves were shot and killed in the ensuing shoot out with police.
On July 18, 2010 Byron Williams, an angry unemployed man, was arrested by police after they discovered a car full of weapons and ammunition that he had planned to use to kill progressives. He was on his way to the non-profit Tides Foundation Center, a favorite target of vitriol from Glenn Beck’s radio show.

However, since Sore Asshole is paranoid of liberals with firearms, I’ll let him know I am a well-armed liberal.

So what do you bet he’d want someone to take my guns? LOL!!

More disinformation from the Sorest of Losers:

You said Jared Lee Loughner was a registered democrat. Actually, he was registered as an independent. He was anti-government, and he distrusted our currency because it wasn't backed by gold or silver. Sounds more like a Glenn Beck fan to me, rather than a bleeding heart liberal.

But this is typical of commenters like the Sorest of Losers.. They throw crap at walls, and hope it sticks. But it doesn't. It just slides down the wall, and pools at their feet.

DD -

No argument really on the whole "who murders more people" issue... Nutjobs abound in every corner of the ideological landscape.

But, to say Tim McVeigh was a "Christian" is a little misleading. Did he claim to be a Christian? Maybe he did - not sure since I haven't researched it. Very possibly he did. But, it is evident, by the standard of Jesus Christ, that he was not a true follower, therefore not truly a Christian. His fruit did not bear witness to that.

And, no argument, that we have a brand of "Christianity" (particularly in America) that aligns itself far more with political ideologies than spiritual truths. Typically, I find these individuals are very surface at best and haven't understood the true ministry, teaching and purpose of Jesus. His true message does not fit comfortably in any political pole to be honest.

Harley,

You’re right about un-Christian “Christians”. Too bad Muslims all too often don’t get the same lenience and benefit of the doubt. Not all Christians are homicidal just as not all Muslims are terrorists. Fanatics only make such insinuations. The list of atrocities committed in the name of religion stains human history with rivers of blood.

The radical Right Wing militia movement claims a Christian identity. Note the racist Christian Identity movement.

George W Bush often wrapped himself in Christianity.

Iraqi Muslims can honestly claim Bush was a Christian terrorist, especially after he said invading Iraq was a “crusade”. Four thousand Americans and untold thousands of Iraqis died.

I say Bush was more a war criminal than a terrorist, but the slaughter results in the same gruesome toll.

As for McVeigh:

Time: Are you religious?

McVeigh: I was raised Catholic. I was confirmed Catholic (received the sacrament of confirmation). Through my military years, I sort of lost touch with the religion. I never really picked it up, however I do maintain core beliefs.

Time: Do you believe in God?

McVeigh: I do believe in a God, yes. But that's as far as I want to discuss. If I get too detailed on some things that are personal like that, it gives people an easier way [to] alienate themselves from me and that's all they are looking for now.

“Core beliefs” are his words, not mine.

Since the Right insists on calling it “Islamic terrorism”, turnabout is only fair play. Note they oppose “hate crime” but attach Islam to terror. Someone stated calling it “Islamic Terrorism” only helps the terrorists justify their perversion of Islam. I can see the logic of this, but our “war” culture probably won’t.

Many so called Christians agree with McVeigh that “government is the problem” and that it requires “Constitutional remedies”.

Neither McVeigh nor ISIS follow their faith. They filled their heads with their own hate and vicious ideas of “how it should be” and “who is the problem”.

I used Google, a liberal sounds like this:
"Whine Whine Whine, I want more of other peoples stuff, it's not fair, it's racist. it's racism, blame the rich, blame anyone but us"

WLWT – Warren County and the state of Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the Affordable Care Act.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Warren County officials announced the lawsuit at a news conference on Monday morning.

“This tax assessment by the Obama Administration is an unprecedented attempt to destroy the balance of authority between the federal government and the states,” DeWine said. “The $5.3 million Ohio is being taxed is money that could be used for education, public safety, and roads and bridges. The states are not the federal government’s tax collectors, and the Obama Administration should refund these illegal taxes immediately.”

ObamaCare, thrown up against the wall and now we are getting to see what sticks.

Sixty percent of job creation in 2014 was caused by the expiration of unemployment benefits, according to a new working paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

In late 2013, a standoff between Republicans and Democrats led to the abrupt expiration of long-term unemployment benefits. Democrats warned that the expiration would have disastrous ramifications, but Republicans had long argued that allowing Americans to collect unemployment benefits for an indefinite period of time provided a disincentive for them to work.

The new new working paper found that the expiration of benefits was responsible for the creation of over 1.8 million jobs. Nearly 1 million of those jobs were created by workers who would have otherwise stayed out of the labor force if unemployment benefits had been extended. Overall, almost 3 million jobs were created in 2014.

Jeez, has Sore Loser (Anonymous) EVER had an original thought?

Instead of admitting he repeats everything Limbaugh says (Notice also he never DENIES it)He attacks my typing, mentions my glasses (which I don't have yet as I asked for custom frames)uses MY word for HIS style (whining) and then moves on to another subject.

So now he copies and pasts an article from the Washington Examiner, a conservative rag dedicated to spinning facts into GOP propaganda. What the article leaves out is that nearly HALF of that "60%" were actual retirees, and people who were forced to take low paying jobs after the unumployment was cut off thanks to the GOP who CLEARLY don't want the economy to improve under Obama.

And who knows what his obsession with Al Sharpton is about?

Yes, money that is spent on taxes COULD me used for other things, but Ohio (Like any other Red state) is probably NOT going to spend it on helping poor and middle class people get the healthcare they need, so it's better used in this way. EVERYONE who actually participates in the ACA LOVES IT. The only issue is it doesn't go FAR ENOUGH.

How many times will we have to make a fool of this clown before he realizes we are not buying his (actually Rush Limbaugh's) bullshit?

Agreed. Exceeded only by the list of atrocities committed in the name of atheistic humanism in the 20th century.

"Atheistic humanism".

Is this what the Right calls fascist and communist dictatorships now? Maybe liberals and progressives too?

All the same to some folks.

Well, I'm not "the Right" so whatever I say shouldn't be taken as a Rightist point of view. Certainly, whatever Palin seems to be the spokesperson for (other than annoying rambling) is not what I hold to.

And, not sure what you're getting at? I think you know the regimes I'm referring to.

Also, I think there are liberal and "progressive" Christians, though certainly they likely have a different viewpoint on certain social issues. Their idea of what progresses humanity could be different from the garden variety progressive. There is a way to disagree yet not condemn - that is what I try to do.

Clear definitions for progressivism and conservatism are elusive. And usually lead us to think in false dichotomies. I prefer right and wrong, truth and falsehood, good and bad. Those are true dichotomies, at least for those who hold to the possibility of moral absolutes.

Yes, fascist and communist dictatorships. That is what they were/are.

So why the re-branding, if not to conflate a progressive system of Constitutional safety nets for the general welfare and regulation of commerce with totalitarianism?

Humanism is not brutality. Atheism is not tyranny.

The term atheistic humanism, as used in this sense, implies both. Why not be clear and say "undemocratic dictators"?

See my point?

It like calling torture "enhanced interrogation". It is interesting that self-identified Christians support "enhanced interrogation" more than say, atheist humanists.

After the Senate Intelligence Committee released the CIA Torture Report, a poll was conducted by the Washington Post/ABC on the subject.

“Just 39% of white evangelicals believe the CIA’s treatment of detainees amounted to torture, with 53% of white non-evangelical Protestants and 45% of white Catholics agreeing with that statement. Among the non-religious, though, 72% said the treatment amounted to torture.”

Looks like a lot of folks seem to think Jesus is OK with torture, er, "enhanced interrogation" as defined by Dick Cheney.

Mozart,
I here by deny that I quote from Limbaugh, Beck or Fox news.
As I've told you before but with your short memory span it not surprising you've forgotten already,
I rarely listen or watch any of them.

Maybe you can provide me with a list of the 6 papers you claim to read each day? Or are you by not providing their names denying that you read them at all?

You see Mozart, as much as you would like to think that anything a classic liberal says come from a "Conservative rag" you on the other hand are afraid to admit that you read the liberal DNC approved stuff all the while thinking that they are "main stream".

Here's a wake call up for you.

In the last two midterms, the DNC lost 80 seats to the GOP.
Why? Because the majority of Americans are not as Radical Progressive as you are. If that were not so, the election results would have been different. If that were not so, the DNC would run Sanders and or Warren for President in 2016, believing that the majority of Americans were as far left as they are.
But the DNC wont run either of those two because they know the majority of American reject the Radical Progressive agenda that you and the DNC want to put into power.
You see Mozart, the majority of Americans are not atheist, do not favor abortion any time for any reason, do not favor late or partial birth abortions, do no favor govt spying on them, EPA regulations that limit the growth of our economy, higher taxes, more govt regulations, and Obamacare.

If it were not so, the results of the last two mid term elections would have been different. Tje truth. that fact is very hard to spin, isn't it?

I'M PAY FOR YOUR CUSTOM FRAMES!!!!

"Humanism is not brutality."

Agree, to a point.

"Atheism is not tyranny."

Hmmm. Might have to disagree on that one. Atheism, if true, is certainly not tyranny, but just hard truth. If false (which I believe strongly, obviously) then it is most definitely spiritual, psychological and sociological tyranny of the worst sort.

And, yes, religion can and is used the same way.

ANY form of untruth is.

Yeah, we can trust the guy unwilling to link to his dishonest sources.

As I said, he is a liar.

Harley,

Your rather broad point on atheism is open to the reverse argument. If there is no God, or one not conforming to church doctrine, then that doctrine is false and becomes tyranny... Christian history and Sharia law show it has done exactly that.
